I am one of those people that needs to know how things work, cost etc., or it drives me crazy. I have mulled this in my head and on paper since my trip Xmas 03'. I can't figure it out-ugh.
I bought 2 7 day/plus passes at the Disney store before I left.
Each cost 326.97
I purchased an AP at disney for 392.99.
Took the 7 day pass' to guest relations and upgraded to AP's.
Each upgrade cost 42.59.
So an upgraded pass cost 326.97
+42.59
total cost for upgraded pass 369.56
It's great for me I saved over 46.00 for both upgrades.
But I thought I read somewhere Disney knows how much you paid for that pass-due to the magnetic strip-and you pay the difference that totals 392.99.
Anyone else come across something similar?
Thanks:confused:

Too much math for me, lol!
I'm sure there is someone out there who can explain it.:)

Did you buy regular APs or PAPs? If you bought the regular APs, it could be that they didn't charge you for the pluses on your PHP, since those things weren't available on the APs.

Just a thought.

the answer to this one is easy, they credited you the gate price for the 7 day hopper, which would have been 350.40 and you paid 42.59 and that equals 392.99. How they did that, or why they did that I cannot answer, but, I got the math to work. ;)

I bought/upgraded to regular AP's. I know they credited/charged for gate price pass-350.40+ the difference to make 392.99. But I am pretty sure I read somewhere they know how much you paid by the magnetic strip and they charge the difference to equal 392.99-because there are no discounts when you purchase an AP or so I thought. It's a mystery:confused:

Sounds like you got a deal from Mickey. That's cause to celebrate.:jumping1:

No mystery at all, it was an obvious error on the CM's part or perhaps the magnetic strip was coded incorrectly. There are a myriad of reasons, which will drive you nuts if you obsess about it.
You got a break, good for you!!!! :)

We get our tickets through General Electric. We always get credit of gate prices when we upgrade...not what we paid.

I've bought tickets at the Disney Store and upgraded them at the parks. I only got credit for what I paid at the Disney Store. They were coded as having been bought at the Disney Store.
Sounds like you got lucky!
