Staying at the Grand Californian. Wife and daughter are still sleeping. Any chance the gate will scan their passes if they aren't there, so I can go in at 8 and get RSR fast passes?

We were behind a guest in the RSR fast pass line this past Sunday that was trying to do that very thing. She became irrate when the cast member told her the pass holders needed to enter the park before they could be used to get the fastpasses ... she held up the line for a couple minutes and made a bit of a scene.
If by chance your daughter is at least 7 and your family is OK with going in separate cars, I would recommend the single rider line, by the way! My family makes a meeting point ( on this trip because we have the photo pass plus prepaid, that's spot is the photo purchase area, but before we agreed to meet at the Stanley statue), makes sure everyone knows to listen to the CMs, and we have a great time!

We got fastpasses a couple of times last week. One time we got in line right after regular park opening and got 6:10. The second time we got in line right before regular park opening and got around 2:00. A cm was walking the line and was announcing that the ticket owner had to have entered the park. The fastpass machines do not open until regular park opening time but you can get in line early if you are a resort guest. They did let the non-resort guests in up to the circle before opening but there was a separate RSR fastpass line for them.
Single rider was great. We went there during early entry and rode it twice with no wait. We were able to do that, Luigi's and Mater's before regular park opening with no waits. Later in the day, the single rider was around 30 minutes.
Another thing we noticed during early entry at both DL and DCA, alot of people were trying to get in without a hotel key. They were promptly turned away.
