I'm looking at the official calendar..... it looks like the SOCal passport is good for dates from Dec 14 onward, but the others are blocked? This would likely mean the crowds will be big that weekend they are able to be used, right?(that's my trip dates LOL) just wondering,as I'm planning things the best I can ahead of time....

You are wise to watch the blackout dates. We were there that weekend. I believe it was the last weekend local APs could get in before being blocked and it was quite hideous. Complete gridlock in the park.

I'm watching, but not comprehending which dates are which at this point..... Am I right in seeing all SoCal Ap's have the last half of the month? That is probably a lot of locals...(I know I would if I could be a local)

Everyone is blocked out for Christmas break, except the ones with no block out dates. So cal AP are blocked out after the 15th, I believe

So Cal AP's last day to visit in December is Thursday the 15th.

Deluxe AP's are blocked out on Saturday the 17th, good to go on Sunday the 18th, and then the big blockout period starts on Monday the 19th.

So the ONLY AP's that are valid starting Monday the 18th are the Signature Plus version, and anyone who still has a Premium AP, and the combination of those two groups is a very small percentage of total AP holders.

Also most Cast Member sign in privileges are suspended in the last half of December, that helps to lower the crowds (Or looking at Disney's point of view, sell more regular tickets....)

I'm a bit confused by your post. Both SoCal passes are blocked beginning 12/16 for the remainder of the year. The only passes the aren't blocked are the Signature Plus and Premium.

Disney doesn't release percentages of APs or total AP numbers, so while most former premiums probably didn't stay with signature plus, there is no way of knowing if that is a small percentage. CMs do get extra holiday admissions in lieu of a cast party the last 4 years, which aren't blocked. That has been working against the CM blockout the last few years.

Here is something I posted on another board today...

>>Now the question is,how many of each AP are issued. That is something Disney does not publicly disclose, but here is some info based on insider information, and not official.

The current rumor is that just under 1 million folks have AP's.

Over half are the two Southern California versions.

About 25% are Deluxe

Around 10% are the two signature version.

Yes, that doesn't add up to 100%, but since not official numbers, just a good basic range for planning purposes.<<

I didn't mention the just Signature Plus and Premium AP's issued, but we can easily say less than half as compared to the standard Signature version.

But we are talking estimates for planning purposes, and the numbers are a fair guide.

Basically you can re-word it to say the VAST majority of Disneyland AP Holders are blocked out starting Monday, December 19th until early January.

Which translates into big crowds that last weekend before the 19th.

Not really, as mentioned earlier, the 2 SoCal versions last day is Thursday the 15th.

The Deluxe folks can enter on Friday and Sunday of the weekend, but not Saturday.

The standard signature can attend.

But with the SoCal versions blocked out, that has nice impact on crowd size.

Last year, someone was reporting that the daily admission during Christmas break was roughly 20% (this was Premier and Premium and the new Signature Plus.) Friends of mine with some knowledge at Disneyland were reporting more like 12%. Personally, I felt it was a very low percentage based on people watching (people going the wrong way, maps out, people needing help). This year will be just as busy with even lower AP attendance.

Thanks ya'll (esp. darkbeer1;)) I got it now after some explaining....for some reason I was not understanding how to read those calendars..... looks like that Saturday the 17th is going to be interesting....I wonder if this means Friday and Sunday will have bigger crowds as a result..... Or that Saturday is going to be full no matter what AP's are blocked anyway....

LOL, I can answer a lot of questions, but not that one ;)

Also, what will the weather be like???

Only time will tell....

ANd one more thought, I mentioned some approximations of different types of AP holders.

But those who bought the Signature Plus AP's did so for a reason, so a large percentage of that small group will use it during the holidays, probably multiple days.

(Compared to say a slow off season day, there might be a million AP holders, but only a small percentage will attend...)
