So, we are thinking of buying some annual passes for our trip in December. Will be buying alt least one if the APH rates at HRH are good, but thinking about them for everyone now too.
Considering the "el cheapo" power pass that has the black-outs. These will work fine for our December trip, BUT we have a trip planned for next July to WDW and would like to have a few days at Universal if we had annual passes.
I do not see any black-out dates listed for next year yet. Should I assume that Universal Studios will be "blacked-out" in July of next summer too, like 2014 was ? If so, that wont work for us, and the next step up in AP's are +$80. each. So it will probably be 4 day passes or power pass for us ..........dont want to jump up to the premier.

Anyone know the history of the power pass black-out dates, and if its safe to assume it will come into play for our July 2015 trip ?

Guess if I call, Universal should have an answer for 2015 B/O dates ?

Thanks !

Yes, the same schedule would apply for the holidays for 2015. The schedule for the Blockout Dates are different if you are a Florida resident versus a non-Florida resident.

Since you are from PA, you will be buying a "Non Florida resident" Power pass and only the Universal Studios side is blocked out in the summer. Islands of Adventure side you still can enter with your Power Pass. If you plan on going more than 5 days, make sure one of you buy the Preferred Pass - that is the one that gets the "Free Self Parking"

Called Uni, to find out for sure, and they do not have the 2015 black-out dates yet . :confused3
Makes it kind of hard to choose an annual pass option for 1 entire year when its not clear what the black-out dates may be for said year ???? Ugghhhh . At least they did say that 2015 black-out dates should be very similiar to what the 2014 dates were.

I think it's going to depend on whether Kong opens at IOA next summer. If so, expect IOA to be blocked out to control the crowds.

Since AP benefits are updated yearly, you won't see anything until after January 1st, 2015.

I thought the power pass was only for Florida residents? So anyone can get them?

I wonder if you can't just get the cheaper pass now and upgrade it next visit if necessary?

They can do that but they aren't for sure if they want to take the chance of buying them and having to upgrade if the blackout dates fall within their vacation.
