My DD14 LOVES the Artist Point Berry Cobbler. It's the one dessert she ALWAYS gets--every visit. We made ADRs for our next trip (8 more days) just so she could get the mushroom soup and the berry cobbler. Now, looking at a few recent posts and pics, it looks like they've CHANGED it. It looks more like a berry pie than the cobbler we know and love--and my DD is not a fan of pies. For those of you who have been to AP recently and can compare the cobbler of new to the one in the past, is it just smaller or is it a completely different recipe?

It is definitely smaller and not the same look as the one they served a few years ago. As for the recipe, don't know if they have changed it.

I've always loved the cobbler at Artist Point, but was really disappointed with it when we ate there this past Dec. It is much much smaller, has alot fewer berries, a different ice cream on top, no longer has the lemon drizzle, and was very, very dry. My mom and I both ordered it and we each took only a couple of bites before pushing it away.

Yeah, the berry cobbler is only a shadow of its former self -- in flavor, texture, quality and size. No doubt, we can thank the DDP for that since it used to be a great dessert to share. No need to create desserts for sharing now that everyone on DDP gets their own.

The current sad sack rendition of the berry cobbler is $10(!) if paying out of pocket. Even in NYC where we live, for $10 I expect a showstopper of a dessert.

Suffice it to say, AP is off our must do list now.

Oh, I'll probably go there when I get around to it, the food's good - just won't mess with the cobbler.

Didn't do the cobbler in May, but loved the mushroom soup - no changes there, still as rich and wonderful as ever!

Thanks, everyone. Artist Point has always been a favorite, so we will still go. Glad to hear the soup is the same. LOVE that. We'll probably get a cobbler to try it out. We just won't rave about it to our family or insist that they get one (their first visit to AP).

When we went to AP in December I was so disappointed that they had changed the cobbler I spoke to the manager. Our waitress had told me it was changed said she had lots of customers disappointed. When I spoke to the manager he told me I was one of very very few customers that didn't like the change. He said most customers were disappointed because they expected the cobbler to be more traditional. I told him the main reason I come to AP is for the mushroom soup and the different cobbler I can get the traditional anywhere.
In April we went as we were walking in there is a picture advertisement when you start up the ramp there was the original berry cobbler. I was so excited thinking they had changed it back only to be told by the waitress it was not. She did talk me into trying the new one but I didn't care for it at all!

Well, all--thanks for your responses. I told my DD14 about the change, and she immediately searched online for the recipe for the old berry cobbler and is now determined to re-create it at home. We had tried it once before, but it didn't come out that great--she said we could just wait and get the REAL one at WDW. Well, now if the REAL one isn't available any more, we'll just have to learn to make it at home.

First they took Coffee Two Ways off the dessert menu. Now they've ruined the berry cobler. Not to mention no more gelato at Beach Club Market Place. What's the matter with Disney? They're taking away all our favorite food items!

Well, I'm sure the berry cobbler shrunk (not sure about the other changes, there's a possible explanation for that above) partially because the dining plan makes it less advantageous to sell desserts big enough to share, because each dining plan user gets their own dessert.

Have seen an explanation for the gelato - it was said that Beach Club Marketplace was responding to guest requests to sell more baked goods and they took the space for that.

The cobbler was always my favorite dessert on property. We ate there in February. It was AWFUL. Not only smaller, but it was just one glob of stuff thrown on a plate. Artist Point was not as good as it always was. What a shame.

My three favorite desserts on property used to be the berry cobbler at Artist Point, the berry gratin at Citricos, and the almond cheesecake at Narcoosee. The berry gratin has been off the menu at Citricos for several years now and the berry cobbler has totally changed at Artist Point this year. I'm usually not a complainer, but if they do away or change my almond cheesecake, I'll be doing alot of complaining.:rotfl:

You will be happy to know they now have the Berry Gratin back at Citrico's (as of June 8th). Not sure if it is the same as before but it was very good.
