AP Basics (Rookie Question)!

I need some help. DW and I are considering purchasing AP's.
We have some questions:
1. When do you receive the "discount codes"? At the time you purchase the AP???
2. Where do you check to see if the new AP discount codes have been released?
3. How quickly do AP discounts usually fill up???
4. What/where is the AP website that others here have referred to?

I will try to answer your questions as best as possible

The discounts are released by Disney at their leisure....there may be times of year with NO discount but they are usually good about it, I have never not had one (knocking on wood)

The best place to see when they are released are either here or on Marys site www.mousesavers.com (LOVE HER!!!!) You can alse see historic AP rated and release dated there

They can fill up fast depending on the time of year, I have booked hotels 3 weeks ahead of time and gotten them....obviously the earlier you book the better.

The only AP website I can think of is after you get them, you can go on to the AP portion of the Disney website...but you have to already have your ticket for that.

If you are thinking about it, the breakeven point by most is considered 8 days, BUT the discount on the hotel is sometimes enought to pay for the passes. And with APs as opposed to PHs, you can go in and out as many times a day as you want and not worry about losing a day.....On one of our "off" days last time we wanted to just run into MGM for a sec and ride Tower of Terror and we didnt think about it, otherwise that wouldve cost a day

Discount codes come out at different times...mousesavers.com is a great place to watch, and these boards of course. Also..once you have your ap...you can check info on the disneyworld website..you have to enter your ap code from your pass in order to get into the special promotion section for passholders. You will also receive a mickey monitor...passholder newsletter, but, that usually arrives long after you get the info from mousesavers or these boards.

I have booked same day rooms and still received the ap discount.
Just depends on what you want and if you are flexible or not.
