If I have an un-activated AP (am planning on activating it for the trip in February) and I book a room only reservation, can I add either the premium or platinum dining plan without buying the park ticket? I'm doing a solo trip and thought I might try this to take advantage of a bunch of the tours offered....

It would be for 3 nights/4 days and I know I can get TIW, but was planning on taking at least 3 tours, La Nouba, all signature restaurants for dinner and a spa treatment anyway. So wondering if Platinum might be better off then TIW for dining and Visa discounts for tours....

Thank you for any advice!

I tried to do that a couple of years ago and was told the only way you could get the Platinum/Premium benefits was by booking the package. You can't just add the dining plan and get the other benefits. I'm pretty sure it still works the same, but you may want to call them to see.

Doesn't look like either are offered with an AP discounted room. I haven't seen those options offered with any discounts (room discounts, military, etc).

I answered on your other thread. Premium and Platinum Packages can only be booked with a rack rate room, tickets and a three night minimum.

The Premium and Platinum plans are not part of the Disney Dining Plans, they are their own separate program (that is - they are not dining plans). They don't have the special qualifications that Disney has placed on the dining plans - getting ticketless packages for AP holders and military, and availability to DVC members. "Free dining" offers also cannot be upgraded to either the Premium or the Platinum plans.

The Premium and Platinum packages are not available on DVC reservations at all, and the only way to get one on a regular reservation is to book a full rack rate package (room plus tickets) for at least 3 nights. I believe the resort must be a deluxe resort if you want the Platinum package.

Awhile back there was some limited discounting offered on Premium packages but it has to be specifically offered.
