AP and photo connect?

We are going mid/late Dec. The thought of photo connect is dragging me in..
So we will have one preferred AP.
I saw on the site that you can purchase unlimited downloads if you have an AP for $35..
Does that mean we should buy that and not the 3-day star card? Or do we need the 3-day photoconnect either way?
I'm confused...
