AP and Magic Bands

OK, we are heading to BWV in 30 days. We have already customized our magic bands for that resort. However, we have also purchased premium AP. We have not activated them yet. My question is when will we get the bands associated with the APs? Will that happen when we activate the AP upon arrival? I seem to remember some posters mentioning they already had their AP bands. I am confused! Please help!

If the AP's are linked to your My Disney Experience account, then any band assigned to you will be able to read them. You do not need one band for the resort and one band for the ticket.

If you have a voucher you can link the voucher, and then link the actual AP when you get it.

I understand that, but my question is, when should I get the gray bands that come from buying an AP? Do I only get them when the AP is activated. I'm not confused about how they work, just when do I get the second set?

I have the same question. I received our vouchers in the mail the other day. Now I wonder if I get a MB for my annual pass or is it just the paper copy. The letter with my voucher said "Don't forget to pick up your pass sleeve" at the window. I was hoping it would be a MB and NOT a paper pass like in the past. I did not like those paper passes at all.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for or not. I activated my AP voucher at guest relations last week. I asked about the passholder "slider" for the band. The cast member informed me that to receive that I had to go on my disney experience and customize and it would be shipped to my house. It is on its way now. I did indeed get a passholder card for discounts, parking, ect.

Once your AP is linked to MDE you will be allowed to customize Magic Bands associated with your AP. Once you confirm that you are done customizing then they will be shipped to your house and will include the slider that says AP. The MBs are not grey unless that is the color you choose.

For the trip we just returned from we got AP bands sent to our house as well as bands for each resort we stayed in while we were there (we stayed in 3 different resorts during the 16 days we were there) so we had 4 Magic bands each. All 4 worked for getting in the parks with our AP and all 4 worked to open the door at each resort we stayed at.

Yeah cannot customize AP bands until your voucher is activated at guest relations at least that was the case for me. As stated before I could customize soon after it was activated but didn't get them until after my trip. There is no difference between the bands besides the AP slider.

Mine were activated when I customized because mine were a renewal so I don't think you will be able to customize and order until after your trip starts and they will mail your bands to your house.

So since we won't have actual bands for our first trip since we can't activate now, will we still be able to use the same entrance as everyone else? Last summer when we were there we had to use the old style entrance and couldn't use the Mickey head entrances and ended up waiting a lot longer to enter. Is that still the case?
