A friend of mine would like to go to disney in september and she has an AP.....the rest of her family will buy hopper tickets. If free dining comes out will they be able to get free dining with her having an AP?
I believe everybody has to buy atleast a one day base ticket in order to get free dining, even if they have an AP. Your friend could book the package with a one day base ticket for everybody and then have them upgrade to what the want after check in. Then she can save her one day ticket to use at a later date. But I don't think there's any way to get around buying that ticket to qualify for free dining.
Free dining is available only with a room/tickets package. Everyone on the package must buy at least a one-day base ticket. The previous poster gave the best option - one-day base tickets for everyone, rest of the family upgrades to multiday hopper tickets, AP holder saves the one-day ticket to use later or to apply to her AP renewal.
