Just tried to add Disney dining to my discounted room and couldn't without forfeiting my offer. (With AP)

So adding Disney dining with a Annual pass is only good if your room isn't discounted. You can add the dining, but you have to purchase at least one day tickets...

What is the point?

Your are only saving the price of one day tickets and if you get an annual pass hotel discount, then you can't add the dining without forfeiting your room discount!

I think I would call back and check on that cause I just booked 4 more stays for 2008. we are AP's and Only on 1 trip I added the DDP and I got the discounted rooms. (all except 1 trip w/o DDP added) and i will keep calling in case someone cancels and a room comes open under that discount) ;)
No having to buy tickets.

When I called to book rooms they tried very hard to sell me the DDP and were very excited about the fact that as AP's we could now get DDP- we have DDE but we booked 2 expensive meals and felt that DDP was good for that and would save us $$ that trip.

Unless there is a special that says no other discounts?? :confused3

I would call again- I always do if I am not satisfied about the answers i get the first time. Good luck!

So you have an AP and were able to add dining to your discounted room and keep the discount?

Charleyann

Yes- the room was discounted, we added the DDP for our 3 night stay and had to buy no tickets.
again I would call and ask. :)
good luck!

They said because I have 40% off room rate I can't add dining without purchasing tickets. You can only book with an AP hotel discount rate to get the dining with no ticket purchase?

still makes no sense? Only certain dates. Do you have a link to the newsletter?

Charleyann, I'd try again b/c I just booked an AP rate @ the contemporary for 4/1-4/3 and was able to add the DDP w/o forfeiting my AP discount on the room or having to purchase tix...

We are going March 31- April 3 at the ASM (gotta go budget this trip :) )
we booked a preferred room- I had booked this room earlier in the year and then found out about a month later that there was a discount. When I booked the room in Jan. They had not yet added the DDP for AP's. When I called back in Mid-Feb to see if we could get a room at the AP discount rate they tried very hard to sell me the DDP. at first I said no but then after figuring the meals we had booked I called back and added it.
Our goals this trip is to do character dining and every meet and greet we can get to for DD. maybe it's the time you are trying to book or maybe the DDP is only good for AP's certain times of the year?? :confused3

I just checked our ressie and it says AP discount - must show ID and Valid AP to get discount.
and after checking the rates on the website we are getting quite a discount for our room.

Got nowhere today. Will try again after the weekend!

They consider the DDP a discount, and they don't want you combining discounts. Same reason why you can't use a CM discount on a room and get it. You have to forfeit one or the other.

Because of that, we always go with the CM discount on rooms and admission and pay OOP for food. MUCH better deal. When it was free dining, it was a better deal to pay rack on a value, get a 1 day pass, use CM admission the other days, and get food free.

Just have to run the numbers.

Do you have the 40% off pin discount? This doesn't sound like an AP discount. Yes, if you book a room with an AP discount you can add the DDP. Just go to the AP website and you'll see how easy it can be. If you have the 40% pin discount, no you can't add the dining, but there is a 40% pin discount that is a package (not room only). I don't know what the code is so you need to ask those questions. Pretty much tell the CM that you have a 40% pin code discount for room only and find out if there is the same discount for a package. I have the 40% pin discount for August and it is room only. Even though I'm (we're) AP holders, we know we can't add the DDP because it's not an AP discounted room.
