AP Activation Date?

This is the first time I will be purchasing my AP online. I have not had one for a couple of years, so it will be considered a new one, not a renewal.

To my question... There are two options when purchasing the AP online 1-regular purchase or 2-gift voucher. I will not be there for 10 day, Nov 1. If I just purchase the AP using the regular purchase does it count today as the activation date or Nov 1 when I actually get there and pick it up? This will come into play for a 2016 October trip so I don't want to short myself 10 days.

Or do I need to get the gift voucher to alleviate the issue of losing 10 days?

Regardless of how you purchase it , the AP date is ALWAYS the first date it is used. HOWEVER - Make sure to check the date on the AP when you go to the ticket booth to ensure the day you activate is the date listed.
There have been some reports of CM's missing that part but it is easily fixed.

They don't print dates on APs anymore. Check the contract before you sign it, that's the only place you'll see a date before the AP is registered on Disney's site.
