Aotearoa or Tahiti

I have my fax ready to go for our trip that begins this weekend but want one last piece of advice. We are relatively spoiled when it comes to hotels and if it isn't relatively newly rehabbed, we may be disappointed. I had been leaning toward asking for Tahiti based on the fact that it has two sinks, great views, etc. But after seeing Tikiman's page that raves about Aotearoa and its recent rehab, I'm thinking of requesting that longhouse. It is also closer to the GCH which I like. We have a lagoon view and the only other really important things are non smoking and a balcony. What would you all recommend...a request for Tahiti or Aotearoa?

If that closer lagoon view, closer beach and slightly better view of the castle (no matter where you are it's in the distance)are very important, then go with Tahiti. I personally would prefer Aotearoa's location (close to monorail and boat launch and GCH) and it's newly refurbbed state.

I'm leaning toward Aotearoa for all those reasons. a "slightly closer" view of the castle doesn't do it for me....given all the other factors. Thanks. But anyone else who wants to weigh in, I would MOST appreciate it as well.

If I weren't paying for a lagoon view, I would request Aotearoa. It is closer to the GCH and I'm sure that the rooms look wonderful since they have been recently refurbished. We stayed in that bldg several years ago and had a great view of the monorail. If I were paying for a lagoon view I would definitely go with Tahiti. We stayed there last year and I must say the view of the castle in the distance was breathtaking. We sat on our patio and watched the fireworks. The beach is right in fron of the bldg so the kids could play in the sand. Although it is a little further to the GCH, the walk is only 5min or less and the walk is so peaceful, especially at night with the tiki torches lit. The rooms are also a little bigger than in Aotearoa. I'm sure you'll enjoy either bldg.

If I were paying for LV, I think I'd choose Tahiti. Have gotten LV for a GV price at Aotearoa (but I guess they caught on to that and reassigned some of the rooms as lagoon-viewable!)

Have a great trip!

I guess the question now is -- how much "nicer" are the rooms in Aotearoa vs. Tahiti given the recent renovation. If the Tahiti rooms are still looking good -- not beat up at all. then I want to be there based on these posts because we have paid for lagoon view. Thanks again....

We got back last month from a Lagoon-view room in Tahiti, and I had no complaints about the condition of the room or anything. And I'm really picky.

The view was great--my only complaint was we were on the 2nd floor and there was a palm tree slightly blocking our view. But it was certainly something I could live with. If I had it to do all over, I'd request a first floor room, for quick kid access to the beach.

=joye

Another big thumbs up for Tahiti here!

And it's soooo convenient for TTC so you can get to Epcot without changing monorails!
