Has anyone signed onto AOL to get the points and canceled it? If so how many points did you get and how long did it take for them to be credited them to your account. Did you have any problems canceling with AOL? Did they charge your credit card?

I did the AOL signup. I never even installed the AOL software. I got 1000 points. They said the points would post in 20 days. I think it was actually only about 15 days or so. As soon as I saw the points in my account I called AOL to cancel. They gave me no problem at all. They asked why I was cancelling and I told them I had changed my mind. I also mentioned that we now have cable modem service in our area and had decided to use that instead. She didn't try to sell me anything or offer me anything to stay with them. She even told me that I could still use the free offer for the remainder of the trial period (the trial period is 45 days), if I wanted, and the acount would still cancel itself at the end without my needing to call again. They never charged my card. I highly recommend signing up for this one, but be sure to make a note of when your trial period ends so that you'll be sure to cancel. :D

I did this a couple weeks ago. I called AOL to cancel and when they asked me why, I just told them it wasn't for me and I didn't want to take the chance and forget to cancel after 45 days. They kept trying to persuade me to stick it out longer and when I kept saying no, they upped it to another 2 months of AOL for free. Well...ok....I'll try. Then I was having the problem with AOL trying to "dominate" my computer and not let me get into my usual ISP. I called to complain, told them I wanted it GONE! Another nice tech helped me change my settings so AOL would not pop up automatically and added another 2 months for free!! My free MSN runs out at the end of Sept and I have AOL free til the end of the year! Not bad!!!:)

I received an email on monday from upromise.com join AOL for a free 45 day trial and they'll give me $50. I haven't read all the details yet but if thats correct it beats the heck out of 750 pts(about $5) from mypoints.

Update... I just read some of the details, the site had been down. You have to stay on for 2 billing cycles. It still might be worth it. If you dont have to use the unlimited plan, you could definitley make some money.

Thank you all for your information. I did sign on but have not down loaded it. BTW when I signed on my points was promising 1000 points.

I signed up for the AOL thing on My Points. Never got the points, and cancelled the AOL before the 45 days was up.

I did this and received the points, quickly too...but I didn't cancel it for about 3 months later! We needed a new ISP at the time, so we tried AOL and went through My Points, but after about 3 months of it, I decided I didn't like it and cancelled then...:)

I did this through mypoints and never got my points. I had to end up sending them my confirmation from AOL and they are finally crediting my account for it.

It was a big pain in the butt and i even kept the service for 3 more months because they offered me them for free. So it must not have to do with wether or not you cancel before the trial period is up.

I've been watching my email but I have not gotten a confirmation from AOL for this. I did get the CD-ROM in the mail yesterday to install it.
