AoA or SSR

We leave in about 2 weeks and specifically booked our first night at AoA so we could do a drawing class and then take the Skyliner to check in at Yacht club the next day. As we have no idea if the skyliner will reopen by then (and if we'd trust riding it), I'm thinking of moving us to SSR, mainly because we can rent points for that night so it works out to be only slightly more expensive for a 1BR at SSR vs the little mermaid room at AoA. It's myself, DH and DD9 and we've never stayed at AoA but are animation lovers. I suppose we could always visit AoA another time to do the drawing class and look around. The little mermaid room looks really cute but also really small w what I hear are hard beds. Our plan for arrival day is to swim and eat dinner @ the food court as we'd get to the resort around 5pm but we are west coasters and would eat late.

What would you recommend?

Also if we stayed at SSR for only one night would you recommend the standard or preferred view? - it's $35 more for preferred.

thanks so much

I've stayed at both. They are very different experiences. AoA has a much bigger food court and lots of statues around the resort which are lots of fun. SSR has very pretty grounds but there's not much to look at. The 1 BR at SSR is huge compared to the LM room. I liked SSR a lot but it isn't "in your face" Disney like the value resorts are. For comfort, SSR wins, but AoA may feel more fun.

I don't think you are going to be able to book a SSR one bedroom for one night in about two weeks by renting points. I just looked at the short term availability and there aren't any one bedrooms or studios available for at least the next month or more. You might be able to book it directly from Disney via the Disney Reservation Center website or by calling, but not by point renting.

There are 1 BR's available in both Standard and Preferred at SSR over the next couple of weeks. If you're using the 60 day availability, that's why you're not getting accurate results.

there was availability last night when I checked w/ the rental company but by the time they went back to book it was gone. oh well. I guess we will stay at AoA unless anyone can recommend somewhere else - looking for someplace fun but more comfy than the little mermaid room. looks like port orleans-riverside and coronado springs are both available and in our price range (about $40 more than the little mermaid room). I've never been to either.

Pop's rooms were recently refurbished and the beds were pretty comfy. Their rooms would be plenty big enough for the three of you. That way you would still be close to AoA.

Have a great trip!

For a fun room we really like the new renovated rooms st movies. It’s in your face Disney and for one night it’s plenty big enough when the bed is folded up.

we loved Coronado Springs, they have an awesome pool so that would be my vote if you plan to swim - they have a decent food court as well as a sit down restaurant
