Booking a last minute trip this June. We normally travel as family of 5 and have always been spoiled by staying at the Polynesian. This time around it will just be my 8y old daughter and myself so I can't justify spending that much to stay at the Poly. We are now trying to decide between the AoA and Pop. Are there are pros or cons of staying at one over the other? Is the transportation better at one (less waiting etc), or quicker to get to parks?

I stayed at both last week and would definitely go with POP. I found the rooms at POP to be much nicer. We were in the Little mermaid section at AOA and the rooms were outdated and very far from the main buildings. Also, no coffee maker and no fridge at AOA, if that matters to you.

Are all rooms at Pop newly renovated? Also would you book a standard room or a preferred pool view? Those are the only 2 options if we were to go to Pop.

Yes, they should have completed renovations. I don't like pool views as they are just too noisy for me if I'm spending time at the room. They have trivia, pool games, DJs, not fun if you need a nap.

All rooms at Pop have been renovated over the last few years. They're super nice! I typically stay Standard - the resort grounds aren't that huge, so even the farthest-away rooms are pretty close. The preferred pool rooms are going to be very close to the main hall, and they border the hippy dippy pool. However, because they border the main pool, they're also liable to be noisier experiences.

I believe we were just a standard view room. We were in the 60's building, which was pretty close to the main building

I'm just back from Pop and I would vote it over AoA just because the LM rooms are a HIKE.

I agree. I’d choose Pop over AofA.
But there are fridges at AofA. Did you not have a fridge?

I would go standard at Pop. The preferred pool view are super close to main building but as mentioned noisy in afternoon. We loved being in the very closest room second floor to main building though. I still do standard almost always. Those rooms can be really close and are cheaper. Even the farthest ones aren’t that bad of a walk. We do walk over to AoA for meals sometimes though

No coffeemakers currently in Mermaid(some Guests have requested one with some success),but ALL WDW rooms are now supposed to have fridges.

I guess we probably did then. I didn't go looking for one, because we didn't need it. It must have been inside the dresser, which I never opened.
