i am looking into getting a larger room for spring break 2018.
Looking at AOA family suite or a cabin at FtW we have 2 boys, 3 & 14.
I am a DVC owner and have stayed at most properties at wdw.
We want to try something totally different and would be paying cash for our room.

Would love some feedback on both rooms and properties.

We stayed at Fort Wilderness about 9 years ago and absolutely loved it. It was great be able to stretch out. The full size beds were too small for me and DH to share so we did have separate beds on that trip. Our girls were 5 at the time. They took the bunkbeds. I had the other bed in the bedroom and DH slept in the murphy bed in the Living Room. Since our girls were younger, we could send them to bed in the bedroom while DH and I had some alone time in the living room. There are also two TVs.

We drove so it was nice to be able to park right next to our cabin. We hit the grocery store on the way in so we had breakfast in the morning at the cabin before leaving. Even though we cleaned our plates ourselves, housekeeping was great about making sure the dishwasher was run and emptied and the kitchen clean and well stocked with dishes, etc. They also left us tons of towel animals.

The bus system within Fort Wilderness was great! We went to the camp sing a long and movie a couple of times. We really enjoyed the experience.

Here is my trip report from then: https://www.disboards.com/threads/the-most-wonderful-magical-trip-ever.1834238/

We stayed at the Fort for our first trip many years ago. I loved having the extra space in the Cabin. We too would put the kids to bed and have some grown up time. We also ate breakfast in the Cabin while we got ready
There is so much to do at Fort Wilderness itself. It is like a vacation within a vacation.
I would recommend it

The cabins have recently been renovated and now have a queen bed in the bedroom with the bunks and a sofa bed in the living room.

We have done AoA with our family of 5. The kids really like the resort pool and the decorations throughout the resort. The two bathrooms was nice. The downside was the noise from the hallway and the rooms around us. We are considering the cabins for our next trip for the quiet and full kitchen. The only downside is that I hate to give up the extra bathroom.

We love the Fort!!! We stay every year with 5-6 people in a cabin. It's nice to be in hour own little cabin versus in a hotel with rooms sharing walls, etc. The full sized refrigerator is nice too. We don't prepare meals, but my kids like to have milk before bedtime - this way we can buy a couple of gallons of milk for the stay. The one bed in the bedroom is now queen sized so that is nice. There are fun things to do at the fort, Trails End is a great place for breakfast.

I think it depends on what you want for your experience and amenities ...
- a hotel/resort or a campground
- easy access to pools & food court or spread out needing transportation
- direct transportation to parks or transferring transporation
- neighbors and activity or woods and quiet
THEN
- kitchenette or kitchen
- 2 full baths or 1 full bath

I find it surprising they are about the same price.
It looks like the pool at FtW has a water slide which may be the deciding factor
