I need you

I am a fish out of water re this resort and need your hints, tips, info, photos, banking details....(ok, thought I'd slip that one in)...but I need you to help me plan for next year.....Anzacs , you are my only hope! The future of the aussiekaren awesomeness rely's on you!

So help me Anzac, with your ooba info and raging awesomeness.....and that aussie/kiwi take on all things boardwalk.....

I'm now standing by waiting for your call, so please have your credit card details ready...(ok, cant hate a girl for trying)......

You lost me at banking details.

You can't be a fish out of water. You're the uber planner.

It's just a resort like any other....but I do know that CL at the Boardwalk is fantastic (a fellow Dis-ser stayed there and her TR pics were amazing). Nice view of Epcot....

Oh! And to go with the clown car? It is a clown face pool.

What is your question?????

I liked Boardwalk for being plush
I disliked the Boardwalk for having to walk so much: wanna go to the mercantile to pick up something? gotta go outside and go downstairs. Catching the bus - faster to walk to BC and get on and off there cause Boardwalk is first pick up and last drop off and every bus trip has an extra 20+ mins on it.
Wanna go to DHS / Epcot - might as well walk - you can do it faster than the boat.
Otherwise - lovely rooms and the building is great. Great location. decent pricing, usual Disney high quality service
And I have also heard that they have one of the best CL in WDW

we normally hire a clown car, so whats the parking like..we really enjoy the parking outside the door at bay lake...so is it close or do I need to pack a lunch box for DH every time he has to get something I forgot out of the car???

we dont mind walking to the parks, and we really do want to spend a bit more time at MGM & epcot.....

refillable mugs or BYO cans??? is it too much of a hassle to get refills??

laundry??? do they have more than 2 machines???

Well I have nothing useful to add for you Karen except that selfishly I really want youto stay at BWV. That way, if I ever get back, and if I go DVC rental, you can tell me whether it's worth it for us to squish into a One-Bedroom with and airbed at BWV or better for us to stay in a One-Bedroom at BLT :thumbsup2

DW says 3 washing machines and two dryers, all free to DVC. Book a one bedroom and the washer dryer is in the room.

Parking about a 2 minute walk.

We always walk to Beach Club to catch the bus and then no stops with the ferals at Swan/ Dolphin. BWV is or should be the first stop on the bus back.

I know you love BLT but I'm with your DH that you should try something new (since you can). Just curious, why BWV and not BCV as I thought BCV was generally the more popular of the two?

Have they changed the bus route from BWI?
when I stayed there the pick up route was BWI first - BC last and then drop just reversed the order with BC first and then BWI last. And then sometimes they added in Typhoon Lagoon :sad2:
After a long day walking in the park I felt like I was forever walking at BWI.

AussieKaren - I believe that because the mug refill station at BWI is down in the shops on the Boardwalk, they have instituted a practice where if you keep your receipt for having a mug they will give you the drink in a paper cup so you don't have to go back up and down to the room to get the mug.

I agree with Colin - the view is fab, the hotel and gardens are lovely, access to so much - but my partner and I did spend about an hour collapsed on the lawn outside Flying Fish cause we just couldn't walk in the heat any more one day

The bus route is BWV and Inn, Swan and then Dolphin. On the return it normally stops at BWV first then Swan and Dolphin, sometimes at night the driver is lazy and stops at Swan first, if he does we get off and walk across the bridge to BWV. Sometimes late at night we have had buses stop at the 5 resorts.

The other side is Yacht and then Beach Club. Coming back from MK we normally catch the YC/BC bus because of the previous post reason!!!

Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon can be tied in with some of those routes depending on the time of the year and the route.

Beach Club is a beautiful resort but IMO does not compare with the view over Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk and is more central with Epcot and HS.

My family loved the BWV, there was a rather long walk to get to anything but it never seemed to worry us too much, as we would just stroll along and take in the disney atmosphere. I found once you were in the lobby most things were easy to get to, refill mugs are at the pizza window and bakery along the Boardwalk, so expect to get wet if its raining as no cover. Also no cover when catching the boat.

I found there were a lot of shady spots near the pool. Easy walk to Epcot, which was handy as besides the bakery and pizza window there was not a good range for casual dinning. Kouzzinas was really yummy, we ate there our first night and 2 x breakfast. ESPN always seemed to be crowded and loud, if I wanted to sit around watching football I would just have stayed here and gone to the local pub so it did not interest us.

My DH does not like to catch buses, so often we would get a taxi to some of the parks, max cost $10 including tips, so he though it was worth it to get somewhere quicker, if he didnt come then I always caught the bus and I cant say I paid much attention to what order it picked up and dropped off.

I am not sure what preferred viewing is for BWV but we had a wonderful view, that was peaceful, we had garden down below, the river and it never once bothered us that we looked out to the Swan and Dolphin. Being able to see DWS light up at night was stunning. After being there a few days we worked out short cuts which made it easier, often we would get off at the Swan and walk across the bridge and sneak into the back entrance and up the stairs to our room. Much quicker than walking through the resort.

I am sure you will love it, we cant wait to go back.:yay:

points for a 1 bedroom
BWV 153 points standard view
BCV 197 points standard view

those 44 points make a difference...and i love a bargain:rotfl2:

we will have a car, so will only use the boat for epcot and MGM when we are not in the mood to walk...although I will miss the monorail from BLT....

now another question...should we do 3 days at AKV and 6 at BWV??? or 8/9 at BWV????

i havent stayed at either.....and want to get maximum useage out of my points:surfweb:
