Day 8 - Thursday 30th
A lazy day today. I was so tired that Andy promised me a nice lazy day. He let me sleep and guess what? Yes, I was up early about 8am instead of having a lovely lie-in - sods law definitely! I had a laze around the room and tried to decide what to do. It just didnt feel right having such a lazy day. In the end we decided to resort hop a little.
First stop: Boardwalk. Ive seen photos of this place and its really appealed so I couldnt wait to see it in real life. Did I like it? Oh yes. Its gorgeous. Id love to stay here one day. Its so plush. There were quite few little kids running round and I couldnt help thinking that I hope they appreciate staying in such a fabulous place.
We walked through the lobby and out to the shops, taking in the scenery as we walked and taking some nice photos.
We wandered into one of the shops and I found some pins. I bought a limited edition Mickeys Candy Shop pin that you could only buy at the Boardwalk and a postcard.
We were tempted to get the boat over to the Beach Club but after waiting a few minutes, we decided to be lazy and drive.
Back to the car we walked, having a little look at the pool area. Its really gorgeous.
We drove from the Boardwalk car park round to the Beach Club.
I fell in love with the Beach Club, its so lovely.
We walked outside near the beach and ended up near the Yacht Club before deciding to head inside.
We walked past the Yachtsman Steakhouse and I had a sneaky peek at the menu - it looked lovely. Maybe one day well eat here. This is another resort that Id love to stay in one day.
We had a lovely wander around and decided to eat at Beaches and Cream as Ive heard such lovely things about it. We werent disappointed! We arrived about 12.15pm and were told it was a 20 minute wait unless we wanted to sit at the counter so we jumped at the chance. You could see everything from the counter and it was really fun to watch, especially seeing some of the desserts being made - wow!! Nobody had a Kitchen Sink while we were there but the sundaes looked divine.
Our server was Maria and she was great. Hubby chose the hotdog with cheese and I had the burger with cheese and we shared a starter of onion rings. We also had diet cokes although I was tempted to try the Lime Rickey - maybe next time. The onion rings were heavenly, even more so with the ranch dressing that Maria offered us. I have to say that my burger was amazing, Im sure I read somewhere that they were the best on property and I have to agree with that statement! For some reason, we didnt take any photos in here. Shame really. Next time we eat in there I will take photos and believe me there will definitely be a next time!
With all the beautiful sundaes and desserts being made and going past us, it would have been very rude to not sample the ice cream wouldnt it? We decided on a scoop of strawberry and a scoop of mint chocolate chip in a cup. Even that was huge! Both ice creams were delicious. We couldnt finish it but it was a nice end to our meal. The bill was $30, worth every cent.
We finished walking round the Beach Club and headed back to the car. We were both pretty tired so we headed back to Pop Century. Back at our room, we were pleased to notice that our cleaner had been. Hubby noticed excitedly that shed left us a lovely window display, we were really chuffed with it.
We also had fan shapes with our towels, very cute.
I got into bed and soon fell asleep. I slept on and off most of the afternoon. Hubby managed to get some sleep too. I woke up properly about 6.15 to find myself on my own. I had no idea where hubby had gone so I got up and got dressed and thought Id write out our postcards. Hubby came back about quarter of an hour later, hed been walking round the resort taking photos.
It took us a while to get ready but we decided to head out for dinner, with possibly a visit to Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island. We hadnt visited Chilis on the 535 yet so we headed there. Unfortunately, it was shut. It was due to some boiling water order that theyd closed the restaurant for awhile. It didnt say how long it was going to be shut for. We had passed an Olive Garden so we decided to head there. Bad move. Wed left eating dinner til the wrong time and it was busy everywhere. The queue for the Olive Garden was nearly coming out the door so hubby suggested we head to Chilis on the 192 where we normally eat. Again there was a queue and we were told it was a 20-25 minute wait.
Now, you all know how much I love my Chilis, or should I say how much WE love our Chilis. It was gone 7.30 so it was very busy, not a problem. Our problem was though that they werent very quick at filling the tables. We waited a good 25 minutes and there were empty tables everywhere which we couldnt understand. The table they sat us in had actually been empty ever since wed arrived, work that out! So we were seated and we ordered our drinks, boneless shanghai wings, hubby ordered chicken crispers and I had combo fajitas. Our server who I cant remember the name of was terrible. She had only a very small section and at one point, ours was the only full table. Yet when the girl who was trying to seat people came round to ask her if shed take another table, she started complaining. I wouldve thought the more tables you serve, the bigger your tips no? Our boneless wings had obviously been sat there awhile as they werent that hot and Andys dinner was cold, or at least the awesome blossom strings were, stone cold. When she did get another table of 6, she even complained about serving them drinks and got someone else to bring them out for her. Still, this is the only time Ive had reason to whinge slightly out of all the visits to Chilis weve paid so thats not bad going is it?
By the time we left Chilis it was 9.10 and Andy figured that Pleasure Island would be really busy so wed leave it for another night. We planned to go Monday night and get there early. I fancied a bit of a boogie at 8 Trax. Instead, we parked up and headed to Classic Concoctions so Andy could have his Coors Light and I had a lovely frozen strawberry daiquiri, mmm mmm. I did a little shopping at Everything Pop as they had some beautiful Halloween stuff on show. I bought Mickey and Minnie Halloween beanies, a Mickey Halloween bag for trick or treating and some Halloween pins. I saw one of Stitch and one of Lilo so I picked them up. When I got to the till, the CM pointed out another Stitch pin they had behind the counter. It was a Limited Edition Stitch Halloween pin which said Fall 2004 on it. Apparently, this is the only place in WDW that you can buy it. Its a limited edition of 1000 and it says 2 of 4 on the back so I shall have to hunt for the other ones. I was really chuffed that she pointed it out so I put the other Stitch one back and got the LE one instead. Result!
We were back in our room by 11, watched That 70s Show and then to bed.
coming up: we attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and survive
