Does anyone know where I would start to go about having my husband & I renew our vows at Disney?

We sure do! ;)

Start by taking a look at the Disney Wedding Website...

Your first "big" decision is whether to have an Escape (intimate) vow renewal with 18 guests (plus bride and groom) or a Wishes (custom) vow renewal with a specific minimum expenditure.

Take a look at the website and see what options you like and what best fits your needs...then come back here and ask all the questions you can think of! We'll do our best to help you!

You can also do a VR (or wedding) at the Swan and Dolphin. Swan and Dolphin events aren't arranged through DFTW, so there are less restrictions (a big one being the difference in event minimums), but there are also some perks that you don't get, like the MK photo shoot, and the ability to do a dessert party in your gown.

Let us know what you decide!

i am having NO LUCK with a VOW renewal with such a small group :(

It will just be husband and i for our 10 yr anniv on oct 25, 07 along with our 2children and my mom..THATS IT!!! just 5 of us TOTAL :(

I am having no luck with a group that small..... we just want vows renewed in front of kids, something private small at DISNEY ....
:confused3

we are planning a VR for our 20th. I plan on dh, myself, my 2dds adn my mom. we will invite others (siblings) but who knows. The way I see it, if they choose not to come then we will still have it ... oh I would like them to attend, but.... we will enjoy ourselves

i am having a vow renewal on the WONDER next summer. There is only 10 of us (including DH and I)
It is an "add on" to our cruise..very reasonable for what they have included!

RACHEL!! I just saw that was you...We are having our VR on the back2back WONDER next summer with everyone from the 2005 cruise. you could add it to your 2008 cruise but then it would be your 11th year..really a great deal!!

Hi, welcome fellow renewer!
I'll post an answer for newbies about Escape Weddings/Renewals from another post I did:

Here are some things that I've learned if anyone else is just starting to plan:

1. The 2008 price for an Escape wedding is $4000. This includes all the old amenities (location, bouquet, boutanierre, one cake that feeds 20 with your choice of filling, Mickey cake topper, 1 bottle of champagne, a violinist, 4 consecutive hours of an 8 person limo, 20 4x6 photos) plus 2 annual passes. The maximum allowed is 18 guests plus the bride and groom (children are counted as guests). The Wedding Pavilion location is $1000 extra.

2. Locations can be held by Disney at exactly 12 months in advance. You call and they pencil in the date and send you a contract. You mail back the signed contract with a $750 deposit and they confirm the date. The times available are M-Th: 10AM, 12PM, 2:30PM and 5PM.

3. Sunset Pointe (Poly Resort) is only available Oct-March. It is a beach with a 10 person capacity. Sunrise Terrace (Wilderness Resort) is on the 4th floor and overlooks the mountain stream, but it has a 10 person capacity. The Wedding Gazebo (Yacht Club) is in a rose garden and holds a large capacity. Sea Breeze Point (Boardwalk Resort) overlooks Crescent lake and holds a large capacity.

4. Wedding attire is not allowed in the parks at all, but they are allowed at the resorts (hotels). If you book an Illuminations dessert party, you can be specially escorteed by a CM in your wedding attire to Epcot Park. Otherwise all dinner/reception venues are at the resorts.

5. Fireworks cruises: all private boats available have capacities of 12 or less. Grand1 yacht holds 12. Pontoon boats hold 10. Breathless holds 4 at most. Grand Gatherings offers a Magical Fireworks Voyage for large parties with visits from Peter Pan and Hook (I'm not sure if it leaves from the park, whether wedding attire would be permitted on board).

6. Post-wedding dinners for large parties (over 8 I believe) have to be when the restaurant first opens for dinner, usually around 5-5:30PM. I've heard that a few restaurants will give large parties the last seating too, around 9:30PM. So if you book a 5PM wedding, you are unlikely to get a standard dinner time, unless you book a private room.

7. Private dinner rooms available are: Citrico's Chefs Domain (capacity 12, $650 minimum), California Grill Sonoma Room (capacity 40, $2000 minimum) and Napa Room (capacity 60, $3000 minimum), Jiko's Wine Room (capacity 20, $2500 minimum), Victoria and Alberts (capacity 21, $1750 for first 10 guests), DTD Fulton's (capacity 40 , $2000 minimum).

8. Officiants are not included in the package. Officiants run about $150-$250. You can bring your own officiant, but then they will be included in the guest tally.

9. You can choose not to use the Disney photographer and hire your own outside photographer. You will then be given a photo shoot and 2 5x7's as credit.

9. Here are pictures of the reception venues:

10. Here are ALL the phone numbers at Disney:

Logansmummy, I see that you have been given good advice in this thread. I have nothing to add to it except a peek into what I personally went through as I planned my own FTW vow renewal three years ago. I have an unfinished trip report on the Dis that mentions some of the decisions that I made as time moved forward: click here. I will begin working on completing that trip report next month (and I will fix all the broken links, of which there are many). I need to do it for my children's sakes -- it will be a fun story for them to hand down to their own children someday. ;)

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding anniversary. If you chose to celebrate it in WDW, I hope you enjoy the planning process. The FTW folks are wonderful to work with.

You can do an Escape (intimate) vow renewal with as few as just your DH and you. My DH and I did that...

My VR on the WONDER is $1500 for 2008...comes with Conceriege service for us (we are in a Cat 10) VR, flowers, PALO dinner for the Bride and Groom, cake and champange for up to 10!

From looking at the FTW site, it looks like the min. cost is still $4000, whether you have 18 people or 2....Is this what you found...We would love to renew our vows at Sunset Point at the Poly, just DH, Me and our 2 kids...we don't need cake, AP's etc. that are included in the package... were you able to break it down and go Ala carte?

Unfortunately, the Escape (intimate) package is "as is". You don't get any credit for anything you don't use.

It is possible to stay pretty much right at that amount though. For our package the only extras we added were an extra bottle of champagne (at about $70) and I pre-ordered my photo proofs (at a cost of $225). The package now does not include an officiant, so that would be an additional cost of about $150 (depending on the selected officiant).

If that cost is still too high for you, you might look at the Swan or Dolphin, check out this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1055624

Another option is to look up something at Leu Gardens (scroll down to the part about weddings). While this is not on Disney property, it does provide a more inexpensive option.

I hope that helps some...let us know if you have any other questions!
