Sorry if this sounds bad, but my son (12) has an interst in guns.

He has an air rilfe here at home (we live out of town!) and I was wondering if there is a rifle range or similar in the Orlando area where he could play with something more....awesome?

I'm not thinking of killing anything, he just likes shooting at targets. It would be such a treat for the wee man.

Thanks for any information.

I have seen a place advertising in one of the Orlando Guides we had sent to us. You can even fire a machine gun! I remember it's not too far off I-Drive, but whether they have an age restriction I don't know.(being America they probably don't)

Pick up some Orlando guides when you get there and check it out.

Best of luck

Thanks.
I *knew* that there must be somewhere to do this. It is the land of the free, after all. ;)

Last year i went shooting with my uncle, you will find theres not to many places left now that do it we found a place a few miles from i-drive (the belz end). i really cant remember where it was. i know it was just by orlando correctional facility.

You pay for hire of the guns, targets you want and per box of bullets for the 2 of us cost us about $120 for everything, make sure you take your passport as we needed to leave it with the guy at the counter when he gave us the guns.

No idea about the age thing, didnt see any kids there was mainly off duty police officers and a few people taking lessons.

When are you going im there in a few days i can see if i can spot the place again.

in feburary I went to a place caled 'the shooting galery' and got to fire a Smith & weston 38. they had loads more guns including a machine gun that you could fire.

I would not recomend playing with guns though, something like that should be taken extremly seriously.

dont know about any age restriction, but a google serach gave me the address of

Shooting Gallery
(407) 428-6225
2911 39th St
FL 32839

The place was in a slightly 'off the tourist track' area with most of the neighbouring shops selling bail bonds, whatever they are!

Thanks for your replies.

It does all sound a bit "underground" though, doesn't it?

I thought that there might be somewhere more "commercial" doing this sort of thing.

Anyway, you've given me information to get me thinking more about this.

I noticed in our guide last night that the Shooting Gallery was advertised so dont think its exactly underground?

Do they ahve a web site or perhaps you could call them and ask about age etc?

I have been in the gallery. It is off ID, near the helipad - if I remember correctly. It appeared expensive but not "underground". There were a vast range of firearms, from desert eagle revolvers to MP 5's (whch you see in nearly every film & are carried by British armed police).

The closed in range was out the rear of the property but as I did not shoot I cannot report on how safe the procedures are.

i know it was just by orlando correctional facility.

Is that the place were you fire towards the prison and see how many murderers you can knock off the roof. pirate:
