Anywhere to get fondue on Disney property?

I am not sure about on property, but you could go to the Melting Pot in Orlando- expensive though. See web site- www.meltingpot.com they require reservations at the one here in KC so you may want to call.

I can't think of any restaurant on property that serves fondue. I wish they did, as our family loves it!

We have a Melting Pot here and we go several times a year. It runs about 40 - 50 bucks for an adult, but it is so worth it! I don't know if they have kid size portions are not.

Sounds like a good idea(said as our fondue dinner is in the preparation stages) but I don't think there is such a thing at WDW.

Food TV had an episode of $40 a Day in Orlando that featured the Colorado Fondue Company, in Casselberry. I dont know how far away that is from WDW, but the food looked really good and was quite reasonable.

Colorado Fondue Co is great. It's about 30-40 minutes from property and well worth it. We'll be there in 2 weeks.

Here is another vote for the Melting Pot. We went last year and it was my eight year old daughter's favorite meal of the trip. She even liked it better than the character meals. My husband and I absolutely loved the food. I cannot recommend it enough.

There are 71 Melting Pots in operation around the country with 28 more currently being developed. There are three in the Orlando area with one located very close to the Disney area. It is located just North of the I-4 and Sand Lake Rd. Intersection.

Reservations are Highly Recommended:

I had to laugh when I saw that "BigDipper" replied to my thread.

Does your name have anything to do with fondue?

I'll take a look at the Melting Pot website. I wish they had one close to us.

Also, I came across photos the other day of an Illuminations Dessert Party that had all different selections of fondue. YUM! I'm going to look into this for our Fall trip.

Well given that Big Dipper just registered this month and this was his/her first post, and s/he provided us with full address, phone number, and website info and mentioned franchise opportunities, I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that perhaps, just maybe, s/he has a financial interest in the company.

But I could be wrong :)

Sorry, but we are new to fondue places. I looked at the Melting Pot website and had some questions.

Do you have to get the fondue for two? Can you just order an entree selection? If we went with the kids, could they just order a cheese fondue (which is what they would prefer)? If they wanted could they share an entree selection with me along with their cheese fondue?? Or is this like a buffet place where sharing is a no-no? The dessert fondues look yummy!!!

How does this all work?? If you get the teriyaki sirloin is it cooked? Do you stick it in the fondue pot that has one of the 4 cooking styles (coq au vin, court bouillon, mojo or bourguignonne). Is it a set amount of meat?

Sorry if I am ignorant of how this works but it sounds interesting.

I'm a huge Disney Fan and just happen to handle the Franchise Sales for the Melting Pot.

Our Annual meeting in 2004 will be at Disney this year!

Child Magazine just ranked the top Child Friendly restaurants and we were voted number 4. See the link below

We are working on our first unit in Michigan and it will be near Troy. Lansing is in the works and we'll see if it comes together.

You may drill into our menu from the website to learn more about the concept, but the food items are seasoned, prepped and brought out cut into bit size for dipping. Some prefer the traditional oil, but others prefer the lighter side with the Mojo or vegetable broth selections.

Go ahead...

Safe travels!

Great! We always have to drive to Grand Rapids or a Detroit Suburb to go to the restaurants we like.

Right now, we drive an hour to Grand Rapids to go to Macaroni Grill.

Doe the Melting Pot have stuff specifically for kids? I didn't notice anything on the website.

I have been to the Melting Pot and Simply Fondue and have never seen children there... doesn't mean they arent welcome, just was a more romanticy place both times we went to both places. Plus its expensive and is a long meal.... Just been my experience when we go. We usually go for Vday or our anniversary, its a special event.

They bring you the foods uncooked, and you cook them in your broth or oil or whatever you choose. It is usually a 3 course meal, with a cheese and bread to start with, meats and broth or oil for entree, and chocolate and fruits/cakes for dessert. It takes a long time... but is what we like about it! Its a dining adventure and can be very very romantic =) We love going, but its pretty expensive and usually you have to make reservations, so we don't go often =)

I would just call and ask them about children, I'm sure each restaurant handles things a little differently. We always order a combination dinner that includes all 3 courses, but I would think you could just order the cheese appetizer... ? I'd just call and ask =)

We LOVE fondue =) Highly recommend it!

FloridaFam,

The Melting Pot offers a child’s plate, which consist of chicken, black tiger shrimp, sirloin, ravioli, and veggies. It is a great experience for children because it gives them the opportunity to “play with their food,” which is usually against the rules at home. And don’t forget to save room for desert! Kids love dipping into the chocolate s’mores fondue desert with dippers ranging from strawberries to cheesecake.

Here's the link again to the "Child Friendly Restaurants" article if you missed it in the previous reply.

Chain Leader Magazine had a nice article written about us last year that you might find interesting.

What Melting Pot location would be closest to Vero Beach, FL?

Does anyone know how long it takes to get from WDW (Wilderness Lodge) to the Melting Pot in Orlando?

Thanks in advance.:sunny:

Run a mapquest map to check the distance, but the Melting Pot in Longwood or Maitland might be closer coming from Vero Bch.

The address is listed above for the Melting Pot nearest to Disney.

Orlando is the closest at this point, but I have Candidates in town now interviewing for the franchise opportunity for Melbourne, FL.

You'll find the addresses at www.meltingpot.com

I have been wanting to try the MeltingPot since I saw that episode on $40 a day, but the closest one is 90 minutes away. One needs to open up here in the Middle GA area!!! :)
