anyway to download photos without a computer?

Hi, there! We'll be at WDW for 8 days. This time, our two boys will have their own digital cameras in addition to ours. I really don't want to lug our computer. Is there a temp storage unit I can get to download the photos into without bringing the computer? I'll put them on the computer when we get home. I don't want a bigger memory card because too many pictures just drains the battery. I'd rather have a compact external storage solution. Thoughts?

More qualified people will come along I'm sure but yes, there are portable storage devices you can take along. Some people use their Zen or Ipod but I don't know how they get the pics on them. Personally I'd invest in extra memory cards. You can never have too many and then they could just put a fresh one in every day and store the others in a safe place.

Hope I'm not high jacking too much: How do you get them onto your ipod? Do you use some kind of USB?

Yes, but... we use a tiny PC (called "netbooks") and copy our memory cards to spare cards for on-the-road backup. We either put the backups in the room safe or carry them with us since they are so small (SDHC).

The Asus Eee is down to less than $300 and when we done using it for backups it is not too bad a computer too!

That's a new one by me. What has led you to that conclusion?

Memory cards shouldn't affect battery life in any way, and the number of photos on a card won't affect its performance in any way. (It's all just "1"s and "0"s, whether it's got pictures on it or not.)

We used to have a 80gig Ipod and we could put our pics on with an adapter but now with the Classic 160 gig, it does not work...I really wish someone would come up with a way to put pics on our stupid Ipod without a computer...
