Anytime fastpasses

We were given anytime fastpasses for tomorrow and already have 3 regular fastpasses booked.
Do we need to use one group of fastpasses first?
Does the computer recognize that 3 were already prebooked so those don't use up the anytime passes?

1. No.
2. There's no direct interaction between the "anytime" FPs and your regular FPs.
BUT...
Do NOT scan an anytime FP in at a ride for which you CURRENTLY (at that same time) have a regular FP booked.
That includes 5 minutes BEFORE your "regular" FP start-time and 15 minutes AFTER your "regular" FP end-time.

A CM once told us to be sure to use our precooked Fastpasses during their exact window, as in don't use the grace period. Otherwise the system will take an anytime pass and not the prebooked one.

This is 100% correct. Even within the grace period, even just a minute or two before the scheduled FP window, it can (and has) slurp up your golden ticket.

Worst part is, often the person at gate to the attraction cannot re-credit you the anytime pass so you have to go to GR to get it fixed.

The first time this happened to us we lost the anytime pass we were planning to use on SlinkyDog because we were a few (single didgits) minutes early for the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. One of the CMs actually walked us over to Slinky and talked us through the gate instead of making us go all the way to GR to get it fixed.

I'm confused...you used the regular FP for Mermaid, and you lost your anytime pass?

Since the poster scanned in "too early" (within 5 minutes before the actual start of the "regular" FP window,)
the scanner automatically used (deducted) an "Anytime FP" instead of deducting the regular FP.

We had a regular FP for the little mermaid attraction and an anytime fastpass (Multiple Experiences FastPass+) we were planning to use on Slinky Dog. We got to the little mermaid gate and scanned in a couple minutes early and it took the anytime pass instead of the scheduled little mermaid fastpass.

My wife just reminded me that this same thing happened to us again at Epcot in October on our last trip. We had upgraded our park tickets to AP and the CM saw we were celebrating our 21st anniversary (and the upgrade process was taking a very long time), so she pixie dusted us with an anytime FP when all was settled. We had a scheduled FP for Spaceship Earth and we were planning to use the anytime pass to hit Test Track. Sure enough, we scan in at SE two or three minutes past the FP window time (well within the usual grace period) and after quickly confirming with the CM that our scheduled pass should be taken and not the golden ticket ... but, nope... It actually left the not-quite expired FP on our list and took the anytime pass instead. This time we did have to go the GR office (near by as it were) and all was straightened out.

* - Note - Yes, we sometimes book really low-rent fast passes. This was a short notice adult only trip and hitting the attractions wasn't a priority. I have been scolded more than once by friends and family for blowing a FP on both SE and the VotLM.

How did you acquire anytime passes? Just curious.

I'm not the OP, but we got some in August at Skipper Canteen because they felt like our appetizers took too long to come out (and they also gave us the appetizers for free). Odd thing is that we didn't complain, and overall our meal didn't take any longer than an average TS meal. We were a but stunned, but obviously appreciative of the above and beyond customer service.

Oh, there are lots of reasons one might get them - usually it's service recovery like an issue with your room or something. I've gotten them for getting stuck on a ride, but that was a paper ticket as they weren't going to get everyone's MDE accounts credited.

Also make sure not to double tap your band when you check in or it could deduct both the booked FP and an anytime FP! Learned that the hard way :crazy2:

We got anytime passes last trip just because a cast member was feeling generous. We were tapping into the fastpass line for 7DMT and the CM there handed us each a paper anytime pass.

OP here. Thanks for the tips!
We received the fastpasses at check-in from a CM who felt bad we missed our first day due to the northeast storms.
Such a sweet lady!

We were randomly given three anytime FPs on our MK day last November. No idea why, but I didn't turn them down! I was checking MDE at Epcot the night before and they were just ... there.
