Hello! We are only renting a car one day and heading to Pearl Harbor early on a Wednesday morning. Wondering if on our way back to Aulani we should stop anywhere? It will just be my parents and I and we are pretty spontaneous. We plan to hit up the swap meet too, at least part of it. Will we pass the Leonards truck on the way back? Anything else we should not miss? Thanks!!

We are here now and I would recommend stopping at the Dole Plantation. It's fun to see the gift shop and all the pineapple merchandise. Also maybe hitting Target and or Costco since you are out and about. Have fun!

Nu‘uanu Pali Lookout is a nice stop. And Chinatown is interesting. My kids enjoyed the grocery store. Unlike anything we had ever seen.

I enjoyed the Dole Plantation too. Gotta try that low-acid fruit.

If you can make it out to the East Coast.... I really like the Polynesian Cultural Centre.... especially the night show.

There isn't anything directly on the way back from PH other than the Kapolei area (where Target, Costco, Safeway, etc are). Dole is the least out of the way, but not on the driving route between PH and Aulani. We went from PH to our catamaran ride that departed from Honolulu, which wasn't that far, if you wanted to see parts of downtown Honolulu, but it does take you further away. And then we got stuck in atrocious traffic on the way home... so it's hard to recommend that if you leave PH late afternoon. Unfortunately, the stretch directly between Aulani and PH isn't all that exciting, so it really depends on how far away you want to drive and how long you want to be gone.

all the above mentioned places (Dole, Pali, Chinatown) aren't on the from PH to Aulani. Most are quite far out of the way. The stretch to get out to Aulani is mostly very undeveloped.

The Leonards truck is parked in the parking lot across from the Weikele outlet near PetCo/KMart. That is on your way. Take exit 7 off H1 and turn into the Lowes parking lot and just follow till you see the truck.
The Weikele outlets are there, but unless you have never shopped in a mainland outlet store, they're a waste of time. It's just your typical outlet clothing stuff. Nothing unusual.

I was thinking swap meet too. It is on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. It gets HOT though, so be prepared. Great prices on clothing, jewelry, souvenirs. The other place could be the water slide park which is I think is the same exit as Costco/Target (1 away from Aulani). We didn't go, and I've heard it isn't fabulous, but fun for a couple hours. It was on our Oahu Go Card, but we never made it there.

Thanks everyone! We are going to go to the swap meet (PH tickets are on a Wed) and hit up the Leonards truck!! And probably go to Costco as well. =)
