We are cruising on March 26th - Magic - 7night -Western - this is our first Disney cruise - we have 2 kids - 5 and 8...anything we should not miss?

Dont' miss the production shows
Stingray City and the Turtle farm with kids on Grand Cayman

Sail away party on deck 9
Snorkeling (if they are swimmers), Stingray City, 7 mile beach on Grand Cayman
Dolphins at Chankanab (Cozumel)
Golden Mickeys, Hercules, Dreams shows in Walt Disney Theater
Who wants to be a mousekateer (take off on millionair) show
Princesses (all at once) signings deck 3 atrium
Character breakfast
Mickey & Goofy pools (hard to miss!)
Fresh mangos and papayas on Castaway Cay

Don't miss the show at Animator's Palate, the sailaway party, Tea with Wendy, 'Welcome aboard variety show', and everything else that the post above me mentioned.

In short, don't miss anything!

Have a wonderful trip:D

Laying on the deck on sea days!!!!

one thing we did on our seven day was have a dis meet at lunch at Triton's and there were about fourteen of us, and we visited for over two hours. It was wonderful!

Kimer,
Welcome to the Dis boards and have a great cruise.

Kimer, We will be on the same cruise. Our first with Disney as well. We've cruised before, but not with DCL. Should be a great time! We can't wait!

On our first cruise Feb of 2000.........we completely missed the "buffet" after we boarded. On our 11/29/03 Eastern Friday night in "the pub" they put on a "skit" at about 11:00p.m. it was absolutely halarious.

During the "at sea" days, they have the "Art of Entertaining Series" which includes 3 cooking demos. You get to sample the food along w/ a paired wine/champagne. The last day of the series, they give you the recipes to the items they made along with some specialty drink recipes. I went and loved the series. I've made the recipes several times and love to have a taste of the cruise in my home.

We like the "inbetween" shows / Cabarette shows that are between the dinner seatings. They are about 1/2 hour in length, are a lot of fun for all but cater to the kids. These take place in Rockin' Bar D. (The "adults" only version of these shows start around 10:30 and are not vulgar or obnoxious. I would have felt ok if my 12yo saw these shows).

There is usually a "game show" going on up in Studio Sea during this time. All are a lot of fun.

You have time to go to dinner, then the cabarette show, then the main show in the WD Theater (or if you have late seating you can go to the WDT, cabarette and then to dinner).

Other things to do..
Order multiple desserts at dinner - they are great
Palo for brunch (don't do it on the same day as your character breakfast)
Spend a couple of moments in front of the wind shield up on deck 10 as the ship is sailing into a strong breaze (hold on to small children and hold on the the rail:teeth:!)
Take the stairs instead of the elevators because you need to work off those great meals
Relax on the deck 4 loungers and watch the ocean slip by
Have fun!!

Relaxing!!!

You will be easily overwhelmed by all the things available to do! My first few cruises I spent more time worrying about what I was missing than anything else. Finally realized that it was OK to miss things as long as I was enjoying myself! If you get off the cruise tired, something is wrong!

Having said all that, don't miss the Brunch at Palo!!

Lampskies,
No wonder you were so worried about missing the shrimp this time!!!
Bob

Thanks for reminding me Bob......don't miss the shrimp on the buffett. And, yes, don't be shy at dinner...... double lobster tails or order two entries if you wish........

What's this about a "pub show?" Can you elaborate??

We have just returned from our third cruise and I did four things this time that I have missed in the past. First, Bingo is a blast. I played the first time it was offered, thinking I would have better odds because less people would be playing. Good logic however, it didn't help me. I also played the last time when the jackpot was roughly $5000. I kept thinking I was going to be lucky. I was one number away from winning and someone screamed BINGO!!! I could have cried. Secondly, on the last night of the cruise around 10:00-10:30. When everyone is scurrying to get their bags packed and out in the hall, I went to the Till We Meet Again show in the atrium. All of the characters are there and they sing and wave goodbye to everyone. It was very nice. Thirdly, we booked the Romance Package ($299) prior to sailing. The package entitled us to a couples massage, Palo reservations booked prior to sailing for tea, brunch and dinner and various other goodies. It was worth it to us because we leisurely got on the ship and did not have to participate in the ressies rush. Lastly, we went to Palo's for brunch. In the past we have gone to Palo's for dinner and it is wonderful. Brunch is just as fabulous. We never did make it to High Tea.

TIP: Bring a highlighter or two for when you are looking through the Navigators so you can highlight things you would like to do. Once you have highlighted the entire page:D you then have to start making the hard choice of what you are going to do and the harder decisions on what you are NOT going to do. For this you need a notepad where you can make a list of what, when and where the activities are that you are going to do. You will want to take this list with you during the day.

We would never miss:
Disney Dreams, surial bath, tea with Wendy, Palo brunch, sail away party.

I love this thread! I just booked my first Disney cruise today!!! We will be taking the 7 night Eastern cruise, sailing Oct 30.
Keep all your favorites and not to be missed coming. I am making notes. We are so excited!

You definately dont want to miss the midnight dessert buffet. Even chose not to eat the desserts, go just to look at them. The detail that goes into the displays is amazing! The chocolate cinderella castle was my favorite. We are leaving on Saturday for the western on Magic and I am looking forward to doing this again

We'll be on the cruise also--that is if my check clears for the balance!

I booked it so long ago, I can't believe it's close--I also can't believe I don't have more money available!

Looking forward to trying to do ALL these things...
