Anything Special for "First Trip Home"?

If you tell MS at the resort that it is your first trip home, do they do anything special for you? A welcome home basket, something special in your room, etc.?

Oh, yeah, something special. You usually get a Welcome Home, a neat souvenier room key, a package with all the DVC info - Portable Perks, the resort newspaper, etc.

But other than that, nothing. You did get the ceremonial pen when you signed on the dotted line, didn't you?

Nope, nothing special in your room. But if you are like most DVC members--your first visit as DVC members will be so special and exciting for your family, that you will not need anything else.
If you really want to have something special waiting in your villa for your family you arrange this through Guest Services at your resort. The price is not cheap by any means, but they do have a nice seleciton of some very nice things, that can be delivered to your room.

WE've been members since '92 and I remember getting a special DVC souvenier for probably the first 3 years. Then it stopped. I'm thinking it was a picture frame but I really can't remember for sure. They're packed away somewhere.

That was back when they had six or seven members.

I don't remember anything on our first trip in 1997 except maybe a call from our guide.

Yes, for our first trip we arrived early and I was reminded several times -- "sir, official check-in time isn't until 4:00."
