Anything not included on Dining Plan?

There have been a couple of threads in which some items have not been included like dessert at O'hanas or larger bottles of water. So, I wanted to see if there was anything else that wasn't included in the Dining Plan that you expected to be.

Also, during meals, are you allowed any non-alcholic drink or are you restricted to cokes and bottled water?

Thanks!!

As long as you follow the brochure you won't find things that aren't included that you should expect. I believe the brochure indicates the size of the drinks that are included as well.

As for the drinks during your meal, you are allow any non-alcoholic and non-specialty drinks. Some places offer the drinks with the glowing ice cubes and stuff like that, and those aren't included. So if you only go in expecting to get iced tea or a soda, you'll be ok.

Sometimes some of the cashiers are not clear on what is included and what is not. For example, when I was at the Contemporary last month, they would not let me use a snack credit for a bag of chips, but they did let me in the parks (and the plan says that they should have).

I also recall that they would not let me use a snack credit for a soft pretzel in the parks.

I was surprised when the Icee/slush drinks were not considered a snack item. That is about the only thing we found that was not covered. Also, the rice crispy mickey mouse shaped cookies were not on the snack plan either although they were mixed with all of the other snacks.

Hrmm... I was just there a couple of weeks ago and got a bunch of the rice krispie shaped Mickeys (with chocolate dipped ears) and used my snack credits for them. I think I ended up coming home with like 14 of them just trying to use up all the remaining snack credits we had. :rotfl:
I got them at the resort food court (ASMo).

I too got the Mickey Chocolate Dipped Rice Krisy Treats at my resort food court and came home with 6 or so of them. The "snack" part of the plan seems to be at the CM's discretion and you seem to have more options when using the snacks at the food court.

Something else that is not covered, but people are questioning is the Kitchen Sink.

But if you think about it, the Kitchen Sink is over $20. One counter service credit may equate to $10 (or so), and the snack credit may be worth $3 (or so). So I'd doubt that Disney would exchange either of those credits for a Kitchen Sink.

You know, I was just glancing at the Beaches & Cream Menu and, even though the Kitchen Sink is $21.99, I would still think it should be included in the dining plan since eating there is considered a TS (not CS). The other menu items are pretty cheap compared to most TS restaurants on the plan. Not that I think I could ever eat 24 scoops of icecream!

We tried to get the frozen sodas for a snack item, but they wouldn't let us have them. We got several Mickey rice krispie treats and large bottles of soda - my daughter liked the toll house cookie ice cream sandwich and a scoop of ice cream from the food court at POFQ best. But we sure would have liked those frozen sodas. We did get a cranberry smoothie at Le Cellier as one of our drinks, though (by the way, the server said we each got 2 nonalcholic drinks with our TS meal there).

The waiter we had at Le Cellier was definately trying to make sure we ordered everything possible so that our bill total was higher (and thus his tips are more). One person with us wasnt' going to get an appetizer, the waiter brought him the cheese sampler anyway (12.99?). Then another person didn't want dessert, the waiter brought her the dessert sampler (11.99?).

I don't know about that 2 drinks per person.... that sounds rather strange. I mean you get free refills....

Most places we went said that if we got the smoothies it would count as our dessert. I have a feeling that some changes might be made at Le Cellier in the near future as it was one of our most expensive meals during our trip, and only 1 TS. I think CRT was the 2nd most expensive for a 1TS meal.

LeCellier told us, too, that we could get a regular drink and a smoothie each as part of the plan.

As for what is in the brochure, we found instances where people were not honoring that. We were not trying to get extras, just what was stated was allowed in the first place.

Just curious... you got an appetizer, entree, dessert, regular drink, and a smoothie?

I think 2 drinks means you can get a soda with your meal and coffee or tea with dessert.

I agree, I'd think something like a smoothie or shake could be considered dessert or a specialty drink. Le Cellier is priced close to a signature restaurant. I hope they limit or surcharge a few menu items rather than going back to being a signature restaurant.

We could have. She told us we could get smoothies and drinks as part of the plan along with the appetizer, entree, and dessert. We told her no on the smoothies. This was the only place all week that offered this option to us.

My DH and I both had ice tea and he had a glass of wine as well. Rather than buying a drink for my daughter (not included in the child's meal price), we ordered the cranberry smoothie. She actually drank 1-1/2 of them. We also got the appetizer, entree and dessert, so the smoothie was not counted as a dessert. No other meals we had offered us 2 drinks.

That's what we found also. A few times, when I was told I couldn't use a snack credit for something, I just stood there saying "uh, uh, uh", looking around to see what else I could get, until the cashier said "never mind" and rang it up as a snack. :rotfl2: (I was not cheating - the things really should have been OK as snacks.)

My recommendation is that you carry the dining plan brochure with you so you can say "it says this should be OK as a snack", like the bag of chips in my situation.

At AKL, you can get "chips" with your snack credits but the only "chips" that count are the bags of pretzels, not the bags of potato chips, Dorito's, etc. Still trying to figure that one out.

What brocure are you all talking about? :confused3 I guess I've not seen this anywhere.

Wow, I would really have a problem with that. What a huge waste of food.
I hope none of the waiters ever do that to me. If it were to happen, I wouldn't touch either item. If they were listed on the reciept, I'd ask to see a manager and ask him/her why I'm being charged for complemtary items.

Then I'd refuse to sign the reciept until the items that I said I didn't want were removed.

I had a waiteress at Sci Fi Dine INN get angry with me because I didn't want to order a dessert after eating lunch there.

Just because we were on the dining plan, I didn't feel the need to stuff myself. I ordered what I thought I would eat. Once we were full that was it.

My son was able to order the unlimited milkshake with dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe. We also ordered milkshakes at Sci-Fi.

Tikkipoo, there are several sites that has the brochure posted. You will also get one when you check into your resort.
