Anything new at the Backlots tour at Universal Studios since 2007?

We're going to Universal Studios during our summer vacation and have only allotted one day for it. We last went in Feb 2007 and did the backlots tour. Now that dd is tall enough for all the rides, we don't want to waste 40+ minutes doing the tour plus more time waiting in line if there really isn't anything new on the tour. I know some things are missing because of the fire, but would you recommend doing it again? Dh thinks it's an impportant part of visiting universal studios. My kids will be 8 and 11 years old and this summer trip will be their 2nd visit to universal studios.

Nothing major is new. If you think it's a waste of time
I don't think you should take the tour again. On the other
hand, I'm like your DH - I think it's an essential part
of each visit.

Kind of brings you right back to where you started.

We would not miss the tour no matter what. During the summer backlot shooting stars up again. The park is open later during the summer so 40 minutes is really not that much time.
