Anything Negative to Say About ING?

I thought I read that you could only use the $50 Turbo Tax bonus once per household... can you in fact use it multiple times even with the same address, email, checking account etc? Bummer....I just opened one for DH with the turbo Tax code and four others (for the kids) with referrals because I thought you could only use one per household. Oh well ~ $25 for opening plus $10 for the referral is better than nothing

You know, I really don't know the answer to that question. I am assuming that is how someone got $200. But you know what they say about assuming?

If I put my wife as a joint member on our original account it will not let me refer her. If I take her off my original account does anyone know if I will then be able to refer her and get the money. I did it for both my girls but just wanted to give my wife a seperate account too.

It was me who mentioned $200. I got the $50 tax cut referral, then opened accounts for DH and our three kids, depositing $5 in each. I earned $190 in referral/bonus money and with the money I deposited, it is over $200 now. Hope that explains it

The only negative I have found is that I am not allowed unlimited access to my joint account. They requested additional information from my husband to verify his identity and put a hold on the account, restricting us from doing any transactions. This is fine. However, when I called to determine the status of the account, of which I am the primary account holder, they would not provide me with any information. I have several other joint accounts with my husband, and have always been able to access all information on the accounts. Needless to say, this has proven to be a bit frustrating.

thanks for clarifying ~ I am glad to see I didn't miss out on the $50 bonus, but like I said $25 plus the $10 is better than nothing!!

So far, I have to say, how can you not love ING? I have made $40 by giving referrals, and $150 for opening 5 accounts so I'm ahead $190 already!!

I have only had one family member willing to join ING. I don't know how they can't see the benefits but you can't force it. A friend of mine said they don't want customers who need a lot of hand holding and if you call them more than once a month they close your account. She wouldn't open one either.

For me, I love ING!!!

I'm surprised at the resistence from friends and family. My MIL said no way she just doesn't like "doing stuff like that". She does online shopping and all. I don't want to argue or force it but it is irritating! Other people say they have to ask their DH's. Meanwhile these same people have tons of credit cards their DH doesn't know about but yet they don't want to open a savings account and get $25! Others are saying it just HAS to be a scam.

oh well! I still need to sign up the kiddos. I'm hoping by late summer I can save enough to change DH's mind about our fall trip. He is giving me much caution.

I have heard the same song and dance from my friends and family.. oh well they are missing out on FREE money! now, my DH was hesitant and still thinks it is too good to be true but I had him read all the posts here on DIS and he is feeling better about it.. plus he researched ING online as well.
It is hard to believe that there are good deals out there in a world of scams ~ but ING is one of the good ones!

Woo hoo!

Thanks to all of your overwhelmingly positive responses I "took the plunge" and opened my first ING account!
Today I confirmed my link to my checking acct and viewed my account....there it was-- my $25 bonus deposited right into my "Disney Fund"!

I'm looking forward to opening accounts for DH and each of the 4 kids! My totals in bonuses and referrals with just them will be $200! I hope I'll be content with that but probably not.........I'll start in on my family and friends

I used that number, and it worked for me. You only need to enter it once, on the first page, I think. When they ask you for a reference code later, just leave that one blank.

I had never heard of this before. Has anyone else heard of this situation?

When we first opened our account, we called a lot because one account was an equity line. No one seemed at all unnerved that we were calling. They are so easy to get through to, and SO NICE when you call!
Only one sis in law as a convert so far, but I keep hoping...
PS savings acct interest rate just went up to 2.6% woo hoo!
