Anything going on in Golden Horseshoe?

Well, @DizMe had me convinced to go get a root beer float and watch the piano player at GH but now I’ve heard there is no piano player any longer…is there anything happening in there?

I’m really planning this trip, down to snacks and all which is totally out of character for me…I’m usually a fly-by the-seat-of-my-pants girl but with so many things changing…I want to take in as much as I can this trip in fear it might be gone (kinda like my fave things at Costco 😂).

Also, does anyone know where to get a funnel cake now that HB is closed? They have some fancy ones at Stage Door but I just want plain with powdered sugar. I’m gonna stop by and ask them if they can make them plain but I don’t see them at all in CA.

YOU ALL ARE THE BEST!

Join us at The Golden Horseshoe for a rich and powerful experience—a showcase of ragtime and Black country music. See how these 2 iconic musical genres still thrive and inspire American culture, as you explore onstage vignettes, replete with décor, props and graphics.

The piano player is gone as of a few weeks ago. This was the first of the entertainment cancelations. I was curious if this was his decision or a Disney decision but I assume a Disney decision because they could always get another piano player if they wanted one there.

I haven't paid attention to the schedules of the piano players. Do you know if they eliminated the piano player outside of Refreshment Corner? And is Joe Gardner no longer in Pixar Place?

I saw a social media post that the stage at Tiana's Palace gone.

As far as I know it was just the Piano player at the Golden Horseshoe. I haven't heard anything about the others.

This just breaks my heart. One of the things that has always set DL apart from other parks is its stellar entertainment options. Can they really not afford to pay their entertainers the new wage or is it the bean counters taking the bit between their teeth and slashing while they have the excuse?

Disneyland…The Museum! They need to do better…DO BETTER…on so many levels. I just wonder how they can plan Disneyland Forward when there are so many things that need correcting right now. Maybe their thinking is, “well, we’re going to tear it down eventually, let’s just leave it vacant for now…”. But as far as Golden Horseshoe goes, I don’t know what they can do with that space, it’s so integrated into Frontierland. Maybe turn into table service but not sure what kitchen facilities they have. That whole area is sort of a restaurant row already…🤷‍♀️

I, myself, would love to see a dance hall Old West show return…they could really promote it as “a return to the Old West” with a chorus line and corny comedians and some cowboys…but that would mean PAYING PEOPLE and we can’t do that. 🤣
Animatronics then like Chucky Cheese…. :rotfl2:

Oh and it just occured to me that the display in general is kind of strange in that you cant go up and look at the items and signage closely. The font is kind of small if you aren't standing directly in front of it. It just feels cheap and lazy.

Disney obviously feels they can keep cutting back as long as people keep coming. Most of the complaints I hear about live entertainment are from people who attend every year (or multiple times) so there doesn’t seem to be much reason not to.

Although, there is a longer term issue that Disney could be getting itself into with these measures. Over time these sorts of moves can damage the long term reputation of a company.
