Anything ever stolen from you?

Believe it or not all of this is true.

Fall 1985 taking a customer on a test drive. Got off the freeway pulled up to the stop light he took a gun out of his coat and told me to get out. Never found the car.

Winter 1986. Bought a new Isuzu pick-up drove it home parked it in the driveway, gone the next morning. Was found it in a barn 2500 miles away two years later.

12/23/1999 4 snowmobiles and trailer. Had just picked up two new sleds for my daughters for X-Mass. Parked them at my business location for the night. Someone cut the lock on the gate and took them. I had it all on video camera even the plates numbers but the police didn't find them for almost a year. The two new sleds were wrecked and the others were in bad shape.

2000 when I was in Disney someone broke into my garage at home and stole two motorcycles. Have never been found.

Dec. 2005 another snowmobile at our cabin was taken and wrecked. It also was new with 0 miles on it and when found it had over 900 miles on it. I still have it but it's only worth the parts I can use.

I could not count all the small boat motors, gas cans, batteries, spare tires and so on that have been lifted off my lot over the years (I own a Boat & RV dealership) but it would be many thousands of dollars.

Wow- glad I don't live where you do LOL!
Only thing I can recall having stolen from me was about 25 joints out of my locker in high school- but then one doesn't report when their illegal drugs get stolen from a locker!

Two different schools I taught at my classroom was broken into. Both cases they broke a window to get in. The first one, they stole all of my tootsie rolls and the little bit of change I had in my drawer, less than $1. Oh, and a calculator, that cost about $1. They found the person that did it. He had broken out of a juvenille treatment center.

The other one they stole the classroom computers.

Last week we were on vacation in Greece. On the subway in Athens someone unzipped my bag, which was hanging on my shoulder, and stole my wallet!!!

wow, you're insurance must be through the roof! By any chance, is your name Murphy? ;)

I just recently had my new netbook stolen right off the sofa table during a cookout I had with friends to celebrate the end of summer...wonder which one really isn't a friend:confused3 Too bad because I knew almost everyone very well.

Unfortunately we have had things stolen. Several months ago, in February to be exact. I got off work at 5, picked up DD at 5:30, went straight to Target to pick up Valentines and a few other items, stopped and got something to eat and went home. Arrived, walked to the front door and my little pekingese was going crazy barking. Opened the door (which was locked) walked in, set down the stuff and after a few moments noticed that our 42 inch flat screen was missing. Called DH at work, asked if he knew anything, he said no and told me to grab the dog and cat and slowly walk back outside and call the police. I did, they arrived and walked the perimeter and around the inside of the house. After careful inspection, all three of our flat screens were gone and all three DVD players were gone as well. Funny part was, they had to move my daughters WII to get to the TV in the living room, but they didn't take it. They had to move her IPOD touch and her Nintendo DS and games to get to her TV in her bedroom and they didn't take those. The had to take the TV off of my jewlery aromoir in my bedroom, but they didn't take ANY jewlery. The gun safe was opened (by force) but not a single gun was missing. All they took were the TV's or so we thought. While the police officers were doing their thing, I walked into DD's bedroom with her (they had ransacked her room, but only her room) and she noticed her mason jar full of change was missing. The sad part about that was that she had it marked with a sharpie saying "DO NOT TOUCH, HANNAH'S DISNEY MONEY". They took it (a grand total of $83.73, by last count)! I mean really, what jerk has tons of things to choose from in a home and takes a little girl's savings. THAT made DH and myself more mad than the televisions and DVD players!

Again, in May, at Disney. I went with $500.00 cash, my Visa debit card and NOTHING else. Stupid, stupid me put the cash in a zippered case, in my purse and put my purse in one of the bureau drawers UNDER my clothes. Never looked at it until two days before getting ready to leave. I was going to take the cash to settle my account at the desk ($393.00), and I opened the drawer, found my purse, but the little case was missing as well as DD's cell phone. Called the bank, the card had already been used to the tune of $500.00 plus, I had no cash, no credit card NOTHING. I called security and they called Orange county, nothing ever came of it. Luckily, my brother and sister in law were there and loaned me some money to get home on.

About 10 years ago our house was broken into & most of our jewerly was stolen, along with some coins. But what they stole from me that hurt the most was my sense of security and comfort in my own home.

Yup...at my brother's wedding in March. He got married at our parents house. I left my cell phone in the bedroom DH and I were staying in. I didn't think I had to hide my stuff..I was in the house I grew up in!! We think it was one of the bridesmaids...

November 2008=
Three four wheelers, a welder, and some other stuff stolen out of our backyard. Home owners insurance covered most of it.

About four years ago=
1965 Mustang was stolen for about 72 hours by a guy working for my husband. Needless to say, he was fired.

1993=
Birthday gift I bought for my mother was stolen out of my school locker. I felt like crap when I didn't have anything to give her.

Someone came in our back gate and went in our building and stole DH's brand new lawn mower a few weeks ago.

We used to have VERY heated arguments because DH would leave the front/back door wide open all night and didn't see the issue with it.
He grew up in the country... never locked doors, knew everyone, no neighbors for miles, etc.

I think he understands why I got so mad at the doors being left open all night now.

When I was in high school I saved and saved my babysitting money to buy a $75 Guess jean jacket (1986 here, $75 was a LOT of money) and I finally had my prized jacket. For a week, because it got stolen from a high school dance in a neighboring town. For months I would glare at any girl I saw in Guess jean jacket at the mall or movies wondering if she was the one who swiped my jacket.

Ahhhh, those were the days, when we lived to get some GUESS!! I remember them well....You were cool if you had many pairs and always made sure that little guess triangle showed.:rotfl: I had 6 pairs:rolleyes1:laughing:;)

Geez, my stuff sounds petty compared to some of the posters here:guilty:
Sorry to everyone who had their stuff stolen.:grouphug:

:headache:and some choice words for the people who do it!

I had thousands of dollars of camera gear stolen from a hotel room once.

I also had a pair of tennis shoes stolen from an island in a swamp. My wife claims that I shouldn't have expected them to still be there 6 months after I left them there.

Personally, I don't think that we do enough to deter theft. I'd prefer to see us increase the penalties for theft and lower the penalties for "victimless" crimes.

my husband left his tree stand out in the woods and sure enough.. guess what? Somebody took it. Shocker.

I am cityfolk, but what is a tree stand??

My golf clubs, out of my trunk!!

I only hope the person that stole them gave the clubs the round I could never give them.

I never had a set as good since Mizuno TC"somethings".

DH an dfi had just purchased our 1st new car together and 2 weeks later the new stereo that we had installed was stollen from it! DH figures that it was th eguys who installed it who stole it as they found a neat trigger under the car (2002 Mazda Protege) that when touched unlocks the car. The police came and didn't do much. About a year or so later we received a phone call that the officer who responded was under investigation...had something to do with cases during our time. Never did get the stereo back.

DH and I also had a bunch of packages stolen out of our garage and backyard (delivery person put there when we weren't home). All were Disney art that we had been purchasing....original animation cells, theme park paraphanalia(sp), original drawings by Walt Disney, etc.

yes, my sanity - I swear my girls stole it!

seriously, we were broken in to when I was in junior high - darn jerks took my swatch watch! (among other things!)
