For my 50th birhday in 3 weeks, my wife and I are taking our 1st solo trip to Dollywood for the weekend. My son is 9 and I thought it was time for a adult trip. I have left instruction for the family friend on instructions to get him back and for to school for Friday and MOnday. His diet restrictions, how we disicipline him, a form I found for "permission for treatment for your child", phone number of our cell and my dad number. Anything else we might need to do? I am sure I could get help from this board on anything else we might need. Oh what would you pay someone for the weekend? I know she may not take money but I will want to pay her something for all of her trouble. Thanks everyone.

I would make copies of his birth certificate, your health insurance card and your driver's license and attach that to your permission to seek treatment (include your emergency contact number). I did this when my DD spent 3 weeks away from home and with her grandparents a few summers ago. Wasn't needed thank goodness, but you never know.

I would also let the school know you will be gone and make sure they have a contact number for the person who will be watching your child while you are gone.

Those are the two things that have jumped out at me.

I don't know about the money thing, but maybe a really nice Christmas ornament as a thank you gift, maybe some unique edible treats? You could make up a thank you basket when you get home :confused

Sounds like the pp covered most everything you didn't. Good for you for taking a little special time with you DW. Happy Birthday!

As for payment, I think a gift basket would be great or a couple of gift cards for movies or restaurants if they like that sort of thing or Michael's or JoAnn if they are crafty. Have a great trip!
