We are planning to return to WDW in Oct 2016 after a 4 year hiatus. Last time we went, FP+ was only a rumor.

We will stay DVC for 8-10 days. We are thinking a split stay between AKV and SSR.

Did some ticket pricing. Ouch.

We won't have a car but found the transportation system to be efficient.

Looks like ADRs can still be made 180 days out? We aren't dining plan people and it's ll be F&W; my hubby might want to attend a seminar or tasting...any insights on how to make reservations for those and how far in advance?

What about FP+? Can anyone tell me what it's all about? Can you still get FPs with your tickets? We are thinking we might not get park hoppers but it really depends on how this FP+ thing works.

:worship: and may :thanks:

I'm also returning in 2016 after 4 year absence. I suggest you read up on 1 of the many faqs about fast pass+. You now book your fast passes 60 days in advance (if staying on site). While you can get some fast passes the same day, popular attractions are gone early.

MBs - no more paper tickets or KTTW cards. The MBs do everything. Room key, FP+, meals, purchases, etc...

FP+ only now. No more paper FP. Make sure you link your reservation and tickets to your MDE account and then you'll be able to reserve FP+ 60 days in advance. You can reserve 3 per day based on the number of tickets. All 3 FP+ will be at the same park. HS and EP have tiers. You can only book one tier 1 ride per day. Once you use all three FP+, you can get a new FP+ on that day at the same or a different park.

This is just to get you an idea of how it would work.

Thank you all for taking the time to answer some questions. I really appreciate it. So it seems like the only thing I am familiar with is DVC. :lmao:

Magic bands? I have seen them but haven't read much. :scared: No more paper FP? So we can get three per day for the same park? That's it? Are people loving this?

I am confused by the FP+. You can have only 3 per day? What if you park hop? I will look at the green link @mesaboy2

We are DVC as well, but have still been going a couple times a year. We have finally come around tothe magic bands (hated them at first, but they had tons of glitches). I found myself really wishing Universal had the bands when we were there a couple of weeks ago - so that says something. Disney had the same glitch problem initially with fp+, but it has smoothed out. I'm still not a huge fan of it - I don't like to micromanage my vacation, but it is what it is. Definitely get your dining 180 days out and fps as soon as you can.

You can only have 3 to start with in the same park. Once those are used you can go get in line to add another - one at a time. I don't know if you can make them at a different park now or not. You could in DL, but we haven't tried in FL. It takes some getting used to - in all honesty the price increases and changes have us spending less and less time in the parks. We hang at the resort more and have started renting or gifting our points. Universal has been our go to lately.

Thank you @MelissathePooh I am really shocked at what appears to be a lack of flexibility with FP+. I am a planner but wow, this seems extensive. I can't imagine, if we go, that we would park hop at all. Hmmm.....this is looking like more of a 7 day trip; one day at each park, two resorts days, and a water park day.

I am starting to read mesaboy's thread. I think my old brain can't take in all this new info. ;)

Think of it like ice cream. Go slow and it won't hurt your brain as much.

Definitely read mesaboy's link. That's how I learned all about fast pass. It's not too bad if it's working. And thanks to robo I bought my tickets for our last trip before the price changed and bridged to add days.

Was there just a significant increase? For five adult, 7 day non hoppers with one water park ticket, it's $2100. We could renew our Disneyland AP's for only a few hundred more.

But I really really really want to visit F&W and AKV again. :cloud9:

Depends on who you ask. I didn't like paper fastpasses, so yes, I love a reservation system that gives me the option to chose the rides and times I want. But if you loved and knew how to make the most of paper FP, you might not. If you use the search option to look for threads with 'fp' or 'fastpass' in the title, you will find many DIS members who hate FP+ with a passion. And a handful of people who do like it.

Thank you Karin. We are pretty good with paper FP at Disneyland. I think I like the idea of booking them ahead of time with FP+. It seems like to get the most out of FP+ I'd want to book them for as early as possible in order to get more?

So once the initial three are used/expired, we can get more at any park as long as they're still available? And you have to be in the park that you want to them in, which is really no different than paper fast pass?

Yes to all.
