Is there anywhere in WWoHP to be "sorted" into houses (Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin). Do any of the shops sell house specific merchandise, particularly clothes?

The Sorting Hat appears in the Forbidden Journey, but he just sits up there and talks to you. No actual "sorting".

LOTS of house-specific t-shirts, robes, and Quidditch jerseys in the stores.

There are a TON of house specific items. We both got awesome lanyards that we plan on using for our ID's. Not only do they have each school they have both the Beauxbonton and Durmstrang School items too. I got an awesome Beauxbonton T shirt and Dh got a longsleeve of Krums shirt

How cool would it be if they had the sorting hat set up like Donkey and the magic fountain to talk directly with people?!?!

When the Harry Potter exhibit was at our museum last summer, they had the sorting hat there. Both of my kids got chosen to get "sorted". My dd was placed in Gryffindor, and my son was placed in Ravenclaw.

We did that, too!

Only my daughter got picked (my son doesn't volunteer for these sorts of things). Basically the wizard would ask each child what their favorite house was, and then the Hat would announce that - surprise! - this was the house they were sorted into.

After four little boys all chose to be in Gryffindor the whole "brave of heart" routine was getting old. My daughter was a little too tall/old to be picked, but she was standing at the front and waving her arms, so the wizard finally chose her.

And my daughter sat up straight on the stool and announced loudly that her favorite house was Ravenclaw. You could actually hear a sigh of relief go through the audience. :lmao:

It didn't always work that way, as my son was surprisingly sorted into Slytherin! I thought he would be disappointed (doesn't every little boy want to be in Gryffindor?), but he thought it was a kick and still talks about being a Slytherin....

A problem with being sorted is that each time it happens you could be sorted into a different house.

True, and my initial thought was also that it could also cause problems with kids not being picked for their favourite house's, and getting upset/disappointed.

I would think it would take away from the storyline of the ride; as technically you are the first muggles to tour the castle not students.
