Free Thanksgiving Turkeys?

The one we usually shop at stopped doing this a few years ago but my second choice place is still doing it. I just looked at their add online and it time to start earning points for a Turkey. Guess i will be doing more shopping there for the time being... At least until i get my Turkey!

Food Lion around here does, I don't usually shop there though. My store (Harris Teeter) is always giving away something, right now it's a roasting pan. Over the past several years I have gotten 2 coolers, a knife set, a canvas gazebo, a camping lounge chair, a small grille, towels, a turkey, a ham, and who knows what else. I wish they would just give me a gift card (they used to do that sometimes too, once they gave away gas cards). It is nice to get a little something back, but I know the price is tucked in the other items I buy....

Our Shop Rite in NJ did this last year too:

From 10/2 to 12/3, everytime you spend $300, you get a 10% off coupon. You can get up to a total of 5 10% off coupons (if you spend $1500).

You can use all your coupons at once and get 50% off one shopping order. You can save up to $500. Last year my husband went shopping with our coupons (we got the max) and loaded up on some electronics (already on sale), film processing, DVDs and food for the holidays - oh yeah, a couple cases of diapers, etc. We also brought along a load of manufacturers coupons too. We hit the $1000 mark and got our $500 off. It was fun, but I think we will be alittle more picky about what we get this year. I would buy more sale items and save even more. My husband was loading up on expensive medicines in big sizes. It was amazing how fast we made it to $1000. I should be on supermarket sweep!

You can also use your coupons on different orders, but price wise, it is better to use them all at once. Also, instead of the 10% off, you can also use a coupon for a free turkey. I still think it is better to use them all at once.

I have 4 kids, so Shop Rite gets lots of money from me!

I spend so little at the grocery store, that sometimes I never make the required purchase amount.

When I used to shop at Giant I did. I remember getting a nice honey glazed ham spiral cut for free.

Nowadays, I think they either raised the requirements (I never spend $300), the most I have ever paid at the grocery store in one week is about $80. I usually average about $50-65 per week so I never make the requirements.

I also could never understand to spend $300 for a $7 turkey. Its easier for me to buy it at the lowest per pd. price just prior to the holiday.

Me too. That's what I usually do. It winds up costing me less than getting the free one.

I always wind up spendin the minimum amount anyway so i try and spend it at he store i will get the turkey from. I have never gottena turkey for $7 even on sale.

I never spend more than $10 for a turkey. Granted I get the smallest one available, since we have a small family.

I don't need a 25# turkey in my house.

They get incredibly cheap on sale around Thanksgiving. I usually spend around $10 for a turkey and around $12 for a ham.
