Ok, so I got the free Peter Pan book from Visa and was excited to read it to my 2.3yr old son...he listened and seemed interested enough. So when I saw the Peter Pan outfit at the disneystore for 50%+15% off I bought it thinking it would be neat for him but no no no he doesn't want to wear the peter pan outfit and even worse when we saw the Peter Pan video he started to cry (and that was just in the first 10-15mins of the show when Peter was flying around the Darling's nursery chasing his shadow and teaching the kids to fly!)
Has anyone else had their child be afraid of Peter Pan??? I can understand being afraid of Hook and the Pirates and I guess Peter too when he looks real mischevious and starts fighting...but it still interests me what was going through his mind!

YES! My 6 year old son and 3 1/2 year old daughter :confused3. I do not force my children to ride any ride they don't want to, but by gosh DH and I put our foot down - you ARE going on that! I mean they rode it last year for Pete's sake (no pun intended). And now DD says she's scared of IASW and Wedway Peoplemover. She rode it each like 10 times last year!

I don't know what's going on - AARGH, 3 weeks left and my kids don't want to ride anything but Dumbo!

Seriously though, DS is very afraid of the dark and he says it's just too dark in there. I even tried to bribe him with one of those mini lightsabers they sell at Tatooine Traders in MGM. "You can turn it on inside Peter Pan ...". We'll see what happens, maybe they'll change their minds.

Oh, and Pooh ... forget about it ... the Woozles!

DOn't worry about it--two is a fearful age. It won't last forever. Good luck!

No, I nevert had that problem. My older two never had a problem with any characters, and now my 2 YO loves Pan. We rode the ride in March and had no problems and she got the movie for Easter and really loves it. My 2YO rode basicallly everything without a problem, but who knows if that will change in the future. I figure it will be 2 or 3 more years before we go back and I think she should be fine again. My neice is 3 and hasn't been to Disney yet, but she is squeemish about alot of really basic things, my sister says they won't take her til she gets more brave.

We were in the UK pavilion at EPCOT with my sons (at the time 4 and 2) and there was a character greeting with Peter Pan and Mary Poppins. The boys were not at all afraid of Peter but were terrified of Mary! Go figure. This is a phase that passes. And once they get there, and they see the other rides, they will be excited and probably want to try them. My 5 year old DS is not the bravest about rides but he loves the Peter Pan ride, it's his favorite.

Good luck!

DBarber600-- The same thing happened with my 3yo daughter. We've gone to Disney 6+ times with her and each time there's a new ride she's afraid of. We're stuck with just the Magic Carpets and Dumbo.

She was afraid of Peter Pan for a while, but is now obsessed with the movie and the book-- we got the Disney Visa free book too. We bought the soft dolls from the Disney store and she sleeps with them every night.

He's been on the Peter Pan ride and didn't seem too bothered by it at the time (but he was 19months old at the time - I asked him if he was scared and he said no then but yes to POTC and the Nemo ride - he could sign the word scared and would sign that if he got scared on a ride). So, a little update on our Peter Pan fear - we went to the disney store yesterday and he wanted to hug the crocodile soft toy! And when we got home he got a hold of a coat hangar and started saying that he was the captain (that was til I managed to get the hangar back from him before he poked his eye out or mine!)...so maybe a little more desensitizaion and flooding will help!
