Anyone worried about their flight?

We are scheduled for the 1/24 Dream. We always fly into MCO the day before (if we are not already at WDW). We have a late afternoon flight from MDW, now I’m really worried. I’m thinking of switching to a early AM flight just to make sure we have options just in case it’s cancelled. Right now it’s weather issues on the east coast but Covid/airline crew shortages are real!! Urgh!!

I was originally flying in the morning of. Switched my flight to an evening flight, the night before. Leaving 1/26. I’m not sure I can leave any earlier, due to a work commitment. Going to cross my fingers and hope for the best!!

I do lots of business travel in and out of MCO and air travel the last year has been a bit shaky. You may get lucky, but delays and cancelations are not uncommon. Good luck and safe travels!

Most planes going to Orlando are packed with families going to Disney, so they are less likely to cancel flights, but if possible, it's always best to fly the carrier that has a hub out of your departing airport, so there are lots of planes and lots of staff available.

Smaller budget carriers can really be problematic if they only have 1 or 2 flights out of your airport for the entire day. If something is wrong with that plane or the staff, then you may have to wait till the next day.

as a rule now we always fly in 2 nights prior. We’ve had a near miss once and that was enough for me. Plus in the winter we have to deal with snowstorms. But we now have the worry of flying home because of covid. If we test positive before the cruise we can’t fly home, plus we have no lodging booked. Same if we get sick on the cruise. Can’t get back on a plane and stuck quarantining in fl. So stressful now.

I would switch to a morning flight. Gives you options if cancelled and less chance of a delay turning into a cancellation.

We just got an email that our flight home was cancelled and they offered an alternate flight time, but it's first thing in the morning and we had plans for a breakfast for that day. I'm really bummed! Dang flights!

I will be worried about flights for a while now. We had flights cancelled twice this year for Orlando trips :sad2: We rarely have flight cancellation, maybe just delays. We have also had significant delays, like 4 hours. We are just coming from Texas. None of these were weather related.

Not looking forward to a potential 10-hour drive both directions, but we get that it is a possibility and thankfully it would work into our vacation plans if necessary

We are driving for our upcoming cruise but flying for another trip before that. Im stressed enough over the flights for a land vacation. I imagine a cruise adds another layer of concern. Pixie Dust to everyone! :wizard:

Made it from Chicago to MCO this morning but someone had to reschedule their Alaska Airlines that was canceled this morning.

I'm mentally preparing for our flights later this month to be cancelled.... I hope they won't be, but we've been watching our flight on the days leading up to it and it has absolutely been delayed more than 4 hours (we'd miss our connection in that case) and cancelled another day. Nothing to do now but wait and see... our trip has the added layer of complexity that its sailing from another country with testing requirements so if we are delayed we'll also need to find another RT-PCR test at just under $200 a pop to be within 72 hour testing limits.

How are flights for people lately?

I'm glad you asked...no really. :rotfl2: Our flight home was without a hitch. United from MCO to Washington Dulles on 21 Jan.

BUT we almost didn't make it because of the storm that came in on the 16th. Our original flight was 5PM on 16 Jan Dulles to MCO. On Friday, I was concerned about the storm, so I moved us to a Sunday AM flight from Dulles to MCO. Saturday AM an hour after I check in - they cancel the AM flight (due to 'weather') and put us back on the Sunday night flight...???
I start calling and texting United trying to figure out what is happening. I finally get us on a flight to Newark out of DCA at 8AM on Sunday and then a connection to MCO at noon.

Okay great...Sunday AM we get to DCA only to discover the 6AM flight to Newark never left and then at 8AM, they end up giving them our plane.

Fine, we're all on the 9AM flight to Newark now, but we have to re-check in. The gate agent tells me I don't have seats from Newark to Orlando...I'm like 'huh?' - after about 10 minutes of back and forth - he offered to send me to Chicago, I finally have a blinding flash of the obvious and say, "But I have boarding passes with seat assignments." I show him the tickets on my phone - then he clicks a few more buttons and says we're good to go. :confused3
