I have questions about employee medical insurance coverage there. Does anyone know if children are covered 100%, 50%, 75%, etc. by Employer? Trying to figure out what portion is paid by the employer, and what portion by employee for children.

Their website says:

We offer consumer driven health plans that include preventive care and screenings at no cost to you. All plans include access to savings accounts to help you pay your share of qualified medical expenses with pre-tax dollars. (* Benefits offered to individuals, spouses or same-sex domestic partners and family members.)

If anyone works there & knows what portion employer pays, it would be appreciated. It appears that they cover 100%, but that sounds too good to be true, so we'd like to know if that is the case from people who work or worked there. Thanks.

DH works for GE. There are several different health plans to choose from. We have a high deductible plan with an HSA, but well-child checks, physicals for me and DH, mammograms and other preventive care are fully paid by our plan and do not go against our deductible. All of the GE plans for 2014 cover preventive care at no additional cost to the employee.

Premiums vary based on the number of people as well as annual salary, so employees are still paying to cover their family members. Kids aren't covered for free, but preventive care is not an additional charge.

Not sure if that answers your question, though!

It does. Thank you. Without yet being "offered" the position, we're trying to garner all info possible. There's three hot prospects for jobs with about the same salaries, so benefits might make or break which opportunity to take. They just give basic benefits info in interview, so not too in depth about % or $ per paycheck.

Thanks again.

Good luck! If you want me to look up costs for the number of people in your family for a given salary band, you can PM me. I'm not sure I can send the link since we have to be logged in under DH's ID number to see it.

I work for GE. If these are non union represented jobs I can help you with any insurance questions. If it's a union job, there may be different coverage. Any families members covered receive full coverage but there is a surcharge if the employee chooses to cover a working spouse who has access to medical insurance through their employer. pM me if you have any specific questions.
