Hi
I think many moons ago there was a thread about the MAYTAG DISHWASHERS being RECALLED and Maytag came out to the home FREE to repair some part, something to do with a fire hazard needing to be repaired, wire related?? Well, I learned of it on BOARDS and called MAYTAG and got it repaired, OR DID I????
Well, here's my CURRENT dilemma:
AFTER the Tech came, who by the way was NOT from Maytag but some company they used locally(after Maytag canceled like twice because of backlogs), I started to have intermittent issues with "blinking lights" on the "electronic panel" Then it would just start working again, so I ignored it. I also noticed some condensation dripping, slightly from the vent area (which I had not seen BEFORE the fix) But I really didn't think anything of it.
TWO days ago, the flashing lights start and IT WILL NOT TURN ON AT ALL!
So, finally the DH is home today (he has been on 12 hour rotations for at least 3-4 weeks) and I say. HONEY, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY (today)
CAN YOU PLEASE FIX THE DISHWASHER.
SO, he takes off front panel (to appease me, I'm sure) to see if perhaps something is loose (he happens to be VERY handy so what he says is usually right) and we (well really HE) finds:
A GASKET that was NOT attached where it was supposed to be which was around this vent area (which in turn appears to have caused condensation to escape and has CAUSED RUST on the electronic board AND then allowed a LEAK on back of unit to DRIP down the Inside/backside of the extra $150.oo WOOD panel I had placed on door (to match kitchen re-do, was on BEFORE maytag people came and was put on by a contractor) and there is a BROKEN missing Plastic piece that is also in the same area (allowing MORE condensation to ESCAPE and drip everywhere) where the Condensation is (NOW either HE/Mr repairman) BROKE it or it CAME that way because the "broken off piece" is not there and this is in teh sealed off area that is not open unless whole panel is removed!
My Dishwasher is FULL and I am so ANGRY and FRUSTRATED because the dishes are getting SMELLY at this point and LOOKS like I'll be taking them all out to WASH BY HAND, UGH!! DOUBLE ugh!!
So, ANYONE else have a similar issue with MAYTAG 7100 DISHWASHER and the BLINKING panel OR know a BLOG or BOARD where I can talk to someone/anyone about a possible INTERIM solution or fix???
Not even sure if this'll be under warranty now, and either way, I NEED a dishwasher to work sooner more than later so, MONDAY I'll call to COMPLAIN and ask for HELP, see what that gets me. In the meantime I cannot find paperwork the "repair" guy left me only my ORIGINAL booklet. MAYTAG is NOT on my GOOD LIST right now
THANKS for a place to V E N T!!!
