that doesn't bother you?

DD is 15. For almost two year now we have gone in cycles of dermatitis on her face. She has been to a dermatologist to the er to a family doctor and has even had allergy tests performed. No one has really given us answers. It wasn't until the last ER visit he even called it dermatitis. Her face is bright red and super dry in the affected areas. Which are usually around her eyes and mouth. So as you can imagine her being a teen ager it has caused endless tears and not wanting to go to school.
I think we finally outside of doctors found our own solutions.
So they never told her she was allergic to make up but it was I have narrowed down that makes her face break our in a reaction. She does not wear much to school but she likes eyeliner and mascara. I think this is why she has it for so long. So for her 8th grade formal I took her to have her make up done. We at this point suspected it was make up so we were prepared for the after effects. Sure enough when she work up both eyes were swollen and her face slightly red. She hasn't worn makeup since and is doing good. SO we have have heard that Origins is pretty good but want to hear from anyone possibly who has gone though anything similar? Anything help or what makeup can you use?

Almay is hypoallergenic and was recommended to me when I got an infection from something (better now). I'm sure there are smaller makeup companies that specialize in this kind of thing as well.

Thank you I will look into them as well.

I have a vitamin e allergy which eliminates a lot of make-up, and can't wear the mineral powders either. I've had luck with the Bare Minerals "complexion rescue" as well as their blush, but can't recall which one it is.

It might help to see what the specific ingrediant is that bothers her. Maybe go to a make-up counter and ask if they can put small amounts on her arm to see if there is a reaction?

ETA - do you have a Lush store near you? I've heard people having luck with them, and most have the ability to sample first.

Thanks that is I guess we will end up doing lots of try and see what happens.

Clinique will give your money back if the product doesn't work for you.

I don't have allergies, but rosacea. I used to love Elizabeth Arden Powder Foundation and would get enough freebies with purchase for eyeshadow, lips, etc. Once they jumped the price $7 in one fell swoop and the "freebies" weren't free any more I switched to Physicians Formula. It was the only drugstore brand I liked and I feel like I tried them all. My cousin who has Celiac's also uses Physicians Formula because she can react to gluten in cosmetic products.

I have a contact dermatitis. My lips swell and get really irritated if I come into contact with whatever I'm allergic to. I saw my dermatologist and tested positive to thimerosal, but I find I still react to some make ups that are preservative free.

I can't use Clinique or Bare Minerals and about a dozen other brands that are supposedly hypoallergenic or preservative free.

I'm currently using regular formula Oil of Olay for moisturizer. Smash box for primer. Tarte for foundation but I react to their powder. I can only use Almay on my eyes and lips.

I also find that I may be able to wear something for 2-3 days before it triggers a reaction so it's been a bit of trial and error.

ETA: I only wash my face with Cetaphil.

Okay thanks. Good to know. So far she only wants eye stuff so I hope it is easy.

We do. I have bought some stuff from there for her no makeup.

I mostly shop for cosmetics at Ulta. They do allow you to return products if you have a reaction to them. Just keep your receipt. I think Sephora also lets you return makeup if you react. Almay is available at Target but I'm not aware of their return policy since I've never had to return the Almay brand.

I am sensitive to many makeups and lotions. Can't figure out why. Origins is horrible for me. I know it's more "natural" but it's also full of plant extracts and I have allergies to pollens and things so I think that's the issue.

Other brands that bother me are:

Neutrogena
Jurlique
Make Up Forever

What works:

Bare Minerals
Clinique

Mascara that doesn't make me itch:

Physician's Formula Organic (Green top)
Bobbie Brown

I use Almay

I also have contact dermatitis and rosacea. Clinique is the only line I can use. Even then, I can't use all their products. I can't use the liquid foundations. But I can use the Superpowder double powder. It covers so well and works as both a foundation and powder. Have her give it a try. It actually feels soothing when I put it on.
