Anyone who has worn a pedometer, how many miles clocked in a park day?

not a pedometer but I have an app on my iphone for fitness. I clocked in around 10-11 miles a day. And that was with taking alot of breaks.

We average about 8 miles a day but we are not rope drop kind of people

one day we started in AK, did F&W fest in the afternoon, and Frozen Summer Fun fireworks and I saw a comment on my FB pics that we did over 14k that day....my friend has a fitbit, so she keeps track.....you can kick some major butt against people you are competing with back at home!

Yikes!! I better get on that treadmill for our trip in 2 months. Had no idea the average was so high!

10-12 miles. I wore my Apple Watch and my DH wore his Fitbit. His Fitbit always gave him many more steps than my Apple Watch. I'm not sure which was more accurate.

I knew it would be a lot but more than expected on average. I will be wearing my jawbone when I arrive this Friday so I can't wait to see has many steps I take a day at WDW.

I'm a fit person who runs and walks a lot so have a good idea of how a certain distance feels on my body. There is no way we walked the average of 10-12 that everyone is saying on our most recent trip. Just around Epcot is only 1.2 miles...not sure how that turns into a 14 mile day...... My best guess would be around 5-6 miles/day. My feet were not very sore or tired and FOR SURE if we were walking this crazy distance that everyone claims is average, my feet would've been sore. As would my son's. Pedometers are not accurate and I also don't believe in counting every movement you make while shopping in a store... etc. And I should add...we don't tour the parks in a logical way to avoid wasting time walking back and forth. We criss cross over and over each day.

We do criss cross quite a bit. Going from one end of park to another, at various times throughout the day. Also, we stayed at two resorts, and at both, we were as far away from the lobby and bus stops, etc as possible. When going to back to the room, and then back to another park later, that alone adds a lot of steps. Also, when we are at the Boardwalk, we walk to Epcot and to DHS, so that is many more steps added on. And our feet were VERY tired at the end of the day :-).

My phone tracks it for me and I averaged about 12-13 miles a day last time I was there.

You might be really surprised at the distance. Our longest day was 10 miles and I was by no means exhausted and my feet were never sore. Our shortest day was 4.5 miles and that was with a VIP guide driving us around. Our shortest non-guide day was 8.4 miles. We have worn pedometers for the past few trips, in July we had iPhones and fitbits (family of 6) the count was very close on 4 devices.

In August, my longest day was 9.71 miles.

This is from my first day at DisneyLAND (just got my Fitbit right before we left)

Last week was considered a relaxing vacation, and we averaged 6-9 miles each day whether it was a full day at a park, or a Downtown Disney day, or pool day.

When using a pedometer it shows we walk about 8-10 miles per day. I usually map out our routes on a distance tracking website at the end of each day just to compare and that usually comes out to be more like 6-7 miles a day which I think is more accurate.

The pedometers that count steps can't differentiate between a long stride while walking in an open space (like hurrying from your hotel room to the bus stop to catch a bus) and shuffling in a tight space (like moving through a crowded area at rope drop; or casually shuffling around a gift shop). Even if the pedometer is calibrated to your stride it has no way to determine how many of your steps are "average" and how many are significantly smaller. The strides I take while walking around a track or an open walking path at home are larger and much more consistent in size than the varied steps I take in a day at Disney World. I know my feet, knees, and back would never tolerate 10+ miles per day at Disney World so I'm confident that even though we cover a lot of ground in a day when we're there (we do rope drop, take a break at the hotel, and go back to the parks in the evening), it's more like 7 miles a day. YMMV (no pun intended).

From my understanding on how pedometers work, they would also count the movements of a ride as "steps", falsely elevating the number of steps and therby elevating the total miles walked at the end of the day. I know that the Samsung app on my Galaxy S5 can be hit or miss on its accuracy just walking on flat, level ground, but I have no experience on any other phone apps or phone brands. I wonder if anyone has ever used a GPS based tracker to track their distance. I would think that would be a little more accurate.
