I would love to hear from anyone who has stayed at the Poly. How did you rate your stay in comparrison to your expectations and why??

We've stayed at many of the deluxes and the Polynesian is our favorite. It is like going "home" for us and we'd have a hard time staying someplace else, I think and :teeth:  :cool1: we'll be there next week!!!

They do a lot of things so very right. That said, I think that there are things that you get with non-Disney resorts of equal price that you don't get at any Disney delux.

I really don't want to start a debate and I respect if you feel differently, but I'm just being honest. I think housekeeping (mousekeeping) can be spotty, and I think there should be mini bars and pay per view movies in the room!I think you get a little more pampered at non Disney resorts and hotels in other cities.

The only reason I say any of this is because I think if you want Disney magic and the feeling that you never really leave the parks the whole time you are there, you'll be in heaven! But if you are expecting the San Francisco Ritz-Carlton, for example, you'll be disappointed.

I agree completely, although I used to think it heresy to say so. This is one of the reasons that the Swan/Dolphin have become our WDW resorts of choice.

I was so excited about staying at the Poly, had wanted to since I went as a kid in 1973. Maybe it was having too high of an expectation for the Poly, but we were not as impressed as I thought we would be. Love the location, love Kona, loved the concierge lounge - but we would most likely not stay there again unless I got a super cheap rate on Concierge again. We love to visit the resort, dining at Kona & renting water mice at the marina is somewhat of a tradition for us. I just can't justify the cost of staying there given that I think it's just ok. Of course, I must be an exception, there are so many people who love the Poly so much.

Really, don't get me wrong, I love the Polynesian and I just get so excited at the thought of being there, I just think the resorts in general are not as fancy as other resorts and hotels I've stayed at for the same or even less money.

We liked the Poly but were not impressed with concierge staff during our stay. I would recommend the resort but not spending the tons and tons of money for concierge. the resort itself is very, very nice.

I've stayed at almost all of the deluxes and I was thrilled with the Polynesian. It cemented my feeling that the MK resorts are the MOST magical; the "private" beach behind the Tahiti Longhouse truly made our trip! I relaxed for the first time ever at Disney~
Walking to the GF Spa, sitting on the beach watching Wishes, dining at Kona Cafe, HECK, walking the grounds to do my laundry at 10pm!! The whole stay was pure bliss. We had a garden view room in Tahiti and it was massive! We really loved the Polynesian :wizard:

We stayed at the Poly Concierge in November 2000 for our honeymoon. It is my DH's favorite place to stay. We loved the resort and the staff were wonderful. However, the cost of the Concierge rooms have risen above what I am willing to pay. We loved it and if we had the money we would stay there again. However, I can't justify the difference in costs between the WL and the Poly for my pocketbook. If I won the lottery my dream vacation would be in the Poly Concierge Castle view. However, that is not likely to happen, so I am content to stay at my 2nd favorite place, WL.

We had a magical time at the Poly. and here's hoping that everyone has Disney magic -- no matter where you stay -- on your next trip! :wizard:

I think I rated it a b plus. While the Poly is our favorite, I think the Disney prices for a deluxe are just getting ridiculous. We are a family of 5 with big people, so my dh really wants a queen bed. I dont think we would ever consider 2 rooms at a value or moderate, just because of the bed situation. All our ds are teens and want room to sleep in the bed. This time I got an ap and got a great ap rate. I would never pay rack rate for the Polynesian, nor would I ever pay for a lagoon view or conceirge. I would rather save the money for food etc. We dont spend that much time in the room, so I only book garden view. Yes, it lives up to my expectations and its very nice there. But our other alternative is the Swan with a nice govt. rate. For less price, we even get turn down service with chocolates, heavenly beds. etc. I can do without the mickey call and room charging. The Poly does have good childrens activities but I am getting more concerned about people "visiting" the resort, especially at fireworks time, you can read my recent review. I dont really feel like I get my moneys worth at the poly and I do at the swan for a much lower price. I guess if you are spending alot of time in the mk, then its worth it.

We have stayed there 2x for 2 short trips. I can't say that it didn't meet our expectations, but I don't think it exceeded either. No question it is a BEAUTIFUL resort with a GREAT location & pool & beaches with TONS of recreation... and the location alone is I really need traveling with small, stroller aged girls! :earsgirl:

We stayed lagoon view concierge and the view of the castle was MAGICAL! Other than that, I wasn't impressed. We love to relax in the hot tub at night, so that was a definite minus. Also, we were there at Christmastime and to me the resort was definitely not my idea of Christmassy. I might enjoy it better in the summer.

We just returned from our first stay at the Poly. We did a split stay. We spent 4 nights at the Poly and 3 at the Y.C.. While the Poly was nice and the view of the Magic Kingdom at night Magical I think the Pool, Hotel and the overall atmosphere of the Y.C. blows the Poly away. Also the location can't be beat. You can walk to Epcot and the Boardwalk. We will be spending our next trip at the Y.C..I am now a true and devoted Yacht Club Fan!!!! pirate:
