Anyone who has paid by check......

Is it possible to have them swipe your credit card at check-in for room charging privledges and then pay the balance when you check-out with a personal check? Or do they automatically just charge everything to the credit card you gave them?

They will charge everything to your card, unless you settle up before check-out day. I also don't know if they'll take a personal check to pay off a room balance. I thought only cash, travelers checks or credit card was allowed. If you have a debit card with your checking account, use that. Also, remember the resort maximum allowances as well. They will do an intermediate charge if any of these levels are met:

Values: $500
Mods: $1000
Deluxes: $1500

As far as I know, you can still pay by check as long as you do it before the check out day as Lori stated. Your check must be printed with your name and address and you also need to show a valid credit card when you wirte it. Otherwise you absolutely can leave your card for room charges and then pay for them by check or any of the other payment methods, even if you wanted to split the charges between different payment methods. You just have to do it the night before you check out, or like Lori also said, before your room charge reaches the limits she listed above. We always do this, as somethimes we like to either charge half and write a check for half or do some cash or whatever. Another option is to send in extra before arriving so you have a credit on your account when you arrive. Alot of people do this so when they get there the credit is there and they will take the balance before charging the card you leave.

I called the CR directly and asked.
My 1 night deposit was done by credit card.
I am paying the other 7 nights by a personal check.

Find out your balance. Write your check before you
go (update your check book too). It's easier than bringing
lots of $100 traveler checks.


CR told me to write the check out to
"The Contemporary Resort".

Ask at the resort you are staying at who to write the
check to.

Some people charge the room and then write the check
when the bill comes in immediately.

We are refinancing and want to keep our credit cards
clean.

Maybe we'll do a few emergency and 'really need'
charges - but I do not want the resort bill on it.

We did this the last time we stayed at the Contemporary. We wrote a check for the balance on our room and then we had a credit card added, so we could do the charges on our room key. They will require a state id or driver's license and they will call to have the check approved. Megan

I just called the WL, and you can pay by check, you just have to settle up the night before.
