We have never flown Delta before. We have 2 children, both use car seats, one has moved up to a booster, one is sitting on my lap because she is under 2. We are planning to box up the 2 car seats and include them in our checked luggage. But according to 2 different Delta reps, we will need to check our stroller as well. Previously when we have flown, we have used the stroller until we got to the gate and then when we were getting on the plane, they took the stroller from us and put it someplace until we got off that plane. When we changed planes, it was waiting for us and then we did the same as we got on the connecting flight.
The Delta reps I talked to had never heard of this and said I either had to include it as a carryon and bring it onto the plane with us (it is a huge double stroller, by the way!) or check it in with our luggage and it would count as a luggage. I don't remember the stroller counting as luggage previously and if it is, it changes the way I'm packing! Does Delta have different rules than other airlines or are the reps just clueless?

i've flown delta in the last year and they did allow us to check the stroller at the gate right before you got on the plane. then when you got off, it was right there waiting for you. sounds like the person you were talking to didn't understand, unless they've recently changed this. i would just call and speak to another rep just to be sure.

Thanks! I just talked to Delta again and this time got a woman who assured us the stroller would be part of the gate check-in and would not be counted as luggage! Thanks for your help!

In Delta lingo it's called "pink ticket" They take it from you in the boot or at the bottom of the stairs, put a pink ticket on it and hand it back to you when you get off. Don't worry, they still ok this. It seems like more and more people are bringing luggage that needs to be "pink ticketed" so you may have a little wait if you are first off the plane.
