I've watched two episodes and I must say the contestants for this competition are hysterical. What Divas! I love dessert is my favorite part of the meal and I love to bake so I was really interested in this. OMG! There is definately going to be a slap fest. I thought for sure the guy who started crying when he couldn't complete the quick fire and then in the final elimination made a sickly blue looking cakes Seth(?) I think is his name. But I guess he makes good tv because the guy they praised for great palate but was not as exciting was let go. Proving that its not about just the cooking/baking its about ratings.

Of course! So mad that the crybaby did not go home but I do understand why the other guy was sent home.

It takes a special OCD person to make desserts that is for sure.

We've been watching it. I wanted the crybaby to go home too but I figured he wouldn't since he brings drama. So far I like Top Chef much better...can't wait until All Stars in December!

We've been watching it. I love the characters!! Of course that crybaby really needs to go home. He keeps screaming that he is fighting for his life. :sad2:

They made Seth the star from the beginning. He's enjoying his 15 mins of fame and they're going to allow him to. What a moron!

I'm amazed by the expertise, I am a dessert maker ONLY and can totally relate to this show. I can't cook worth a darn so Top Chef leaves me :confused3 but I still love it.

HYSTERICAL! The redhots were for my mommy? Come on dude. Man up!

I don't mind Seth so much.

Danielle (and her miserable facial expressions) needs to go home. She grates on my nerves. And that Heather chick thinks awfully highly of herself. Not a fan.

I could not work in a kitchen with Seth...he is just insane!!! Especially trying to do some thing delicate like desserts...yikes:scared1:

Seth is mentally unstable and not a good choice for a high pressure TV reality show.

It is one thing to be a jerk however he does his own thing and ignores the challenges. I think it is wrong to keep him for that reason.

I totally agree...I would rather see someone atleast try to do the challenge and come up short rather than just do their own thing all together. I find him far too annoying and it's getting in the way of my viewing pleasure;)

I agree, Seth never fulfills the challenge. At least the peanutbutter cookies while boring were a typical bake sale item. I thik its obvious that Seth is to provide the Diva Drama so they will keep him around. Overall this whole bunch seems high strung and catty.:cat:

I don't think Seth is going anywhere for a while. He provides the necessary drama and at the end of the day, this is about entertainment and not about which chef made the best dessert.

Personally, I can't stand Seth. :sad2:

I could not agree more.

Danielle (and her miserable facial expressions)

No offense to her, but WHAT IS WITH HER FACE?????? I cannot even look at the television when she is on. It is like she is part Bassett Hound or something. She just makes these expressions I have never seen on a human before. :confused3 :rotfl:

I just watched the last episode (TiVo) and the promo for next week looks like someone goes down and requires medical care (?) my dh and i think it's drama queen Seth. Hate him, he does appear mentally unstable and should not be on the show. I would be very leery if I was another contestant stuck with him in close quarters.

Also agree he deserves a smack down for ignoring the challenges and just doing his own thing, even if it tastes good. :confused3

Hubby and I thought the peanut butter cookies were pretty lame. She didn't even try to elevate them in some way to Top Chef standards, with say, a decorative chocolate drizzle (still pretty lame, lol) or make layered cookies with a fancy middle or something! She deserved to go home too. She had two choices: make a quick cookie and then make what you really wanted to....i mean, how long does it take to make a pb cookie? OR If she felt she had to make a cookie, she could have made a high end gourmet cookie but instead she just chose to make something boring and lame. She is not "Top Chef" LOL

Also, did anyone notice the pink ice cream looking stuff Seth was scooping out? Noone mentioned it at all that we noticed. :confused3 if someone on the team had time to make an extra item, it should have been the oh-so-necessary obligatory bake sale cookie. :rolleyes1

Hi TwingleMum,
I have been watching it as well. I love desserts  and am a huge Top Chef fan. I like the show so far, though I think it will take time to grow into it's own, much like Top Chef did. There is definitely a lot of drama, which equals hilarity.

I am going on vacation this week and staying at KOA, hence no tv. When I get back on Thursday I need somebody kind enough to tell who the ambulance is for.

As for Seth:sad2: I always say everybody has their own stories and reasons, and his aren't any more important than anybody else's on the show. I doubt he's the only one using the show to "save his life"

I have a hard time believing that a pastry chef cannot make a decent looking wedding cake in 1.5 hours when the cakes are already prepared. The top 3 cakes were nice, but the most of the others looked like amateur hour.

Isn't it cake decorating 101 to learn how to make an icing rose? But, even some of the icing jobs were awful.

I'm glad that Eric won the bake sale challenge. I thought they were setting him up to go home with his early comments on the show. Goes to show you that even a baker can make some good desserts.

I know, isn't that stupid? I am no pastry chef but heck, I could throw together something better than that.

I think one of the issues on the show is that NO recipes are allowed and they have to do it from memory. I think some of the contestants are a bit overwhelmed with the time factor and then they have to do it from memory as well.

Well, well, well . . . What did y'all think of last night's episode?! Why so many criers and strange personalities on this show? But I am lovin' the drama!
