Anyone watching Michael Jackson's memorial?

Does anyone have specifics about when this memorial will be replayed tonight?

I didn't plan on watching. I liked his music..but don't consider myself a fan. I was very impressed with the service and how well it was done. I didn't know what to expect, but I didn't expect this. It was a lovely tribute.

what's the significance of the yellow ties/roses?

Absolutely!!:thumbsup2

I am not grieving for Michael Jackson-I am grieving for a man who spent his entire life searching for peace of mind and sad that I don't think he ever found it before he died :(
As an aside, did you know that MJ is in the Guiness Book of World Records for most charities supported by a musician? I think he was a good man.

Anyways, I just got home and turned on the memorial to hear the sweet sound of Stevie Wonder-now there's a voice that puts you a ease:cloud9:

Me too. That is the saddest part of all to me.

That has to be one of the most beautiful, tasteful memorial services I have ever seen.. The Jackson family did a tremendous job and managed to send Michael off without a "circus" atmosphere.. I'm sure he's smiling down right now - with that huge, "light-up-a-room" smile of his..

R.I.P. Michael.. May you find the peace and happiness now that you couldn't find here on earth.. Your tortured soul has finally been set free..

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
I totally agree with you, C.Ann.
I thought it was beautifully done and very tasteful.

The things that stood out to me was how they (the family, Smokey Robinson) spoke about the Lord and the afterlife. They seem to have a deep faith which is probably something they had from the beginning, their roots. I hope Michael shared that type of faith.

I cried on and off throughout the whole thing. I haven't watched the media circus since MJ died.

Brooke Shields got to me. His daughter absolutely got to me.

But I gotta say that Marlon's words got to me most. When he talked about asking Michael to hug their brother, Marlon's twin, I just sobbed out loud. I gotta say that the reuniting of loved ones in heaven must be the most blessed event of all times. Having a baby is a great moment in life but being reunited with those you knew and loved so dearly and desperately must be millions of times greater--knowing that life, after death, goes on forever and ever and one never has to feel the pain of separation again must be the 2nd greatest gift of all.

When my dad died 3 years ago, I remember thinking how he finally met his older brother who he never knew here. And how my grandmother had a "Mother's day" with both of her *boys*, at last. Marlon's speech touched my soul. I'm glad I watched.
And having lost my dad 3 years ago at 44 and an adult, my heart aches and breaks fro his children to be facing the rest of their lives without their beloved father. May the media leave them alone. May they grow up in peace and surrounded by love.

Well that was quite an afternoon....

However, I still maintain my belief that MJ was not in that casket at the memorial service.

I am watching MSNBC right now and they are saying there are no plans for the family now except a hotel has confirmed that they are having a small reception there after the memorial service....

I believe MJ was buried while everyone was at the Staples Center...The fact they aren't taking the body anywhere formally confirms it to me...

I think if it comes out this is what happened, I think everyone would understand, at least I would.

MsA

Okay, I'm not a MJ fan at all in fact I loathed the man. I will say it was beautiful triubte my heart breaks for his family and friends, I cried several times.

NOPE!!!!

I am on MJ OVERLOAD!!! I turned off of all the coverage this morning and we have been watching other stuff....ANYthing besides MJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJMJ

This is a somber thread. The caps and overuse of exclamation marks do not fit.

I really do not think it matters whether he was in that casket or not. 50% of the time, people have a service one day and bury the following day. That could be the case or they could have buried him during this service as you say. My first thought was that was a "decoy" casket. but if it was, so what? Either way, it it either not there or an empty shell, the soul that lived theri is not there anymore.

I'm watching the ABC feed from out of Staples.

They have a few semi-trucks and some large vehicles exiting the underground VIP area. I wonder which one has the casket?

I keep thinking of that beautiful talented little boy singing 'Ben'. For me, it's been Michael Jackson as long as I can remember. Altho apparently he had a very troubled soul, I'd like to believe he never harmed anyone.

His family planned a most beautiful tribute. I was reduced to tears several times, specially Jermaine's Smile, Usher's Gone to Soon, his brothers' goodbyes, and little Paris' goodbye to her Daddy, bless her heart. :sad1:

No matter what you thought about Michael Jackson, he is still their son, their brother, and the father of 3 beautiful children. I certainly sympathize with their loss, heartache and grief :guilty:. May Michael Jackson finally rest in peace. ^i^

Unfortunately, he wasn't this loved when he was alive. A month ago people in the US didn't care about Michael Jackson. They weren't buying his albums, playing his music. He was the butt of pedophile jokes.

I cared...I bought his music and listened to it all the time! Don't make a generalization like that...and even if people weren't affected by him recently, many had been at some point in their lives.

I thought that was beautiful...so glad Paris got up there to confirm the fact that he was a great father to those children. Can't wait to watch it again and see the parts I missed.

what's the significance of the yellow ties/roses?

This is what I found about the meaning of yellow, but I'm not sure if it's right.

Yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment, and happiness. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future. Yellow will advance from surrounding colors and instill optimism and energy, as well as spark creative thoughts.

The music was absolutely beautiful. I hope they release the live performances.

I cried throughout. I wasn't the biggest fan, but I grieved for the tragic figure who will never know the outpouring of love and respect he received today.

I hope his children receive love, support, and comfort during these difficult times.

The issue of his burial...I hope they get special permission from the state powers that be to bury him at Neverland. I hope they keep his final resting place private. The poor man was never given any peace during his life...he shouldn't be a spot on daily tour bus schedules.

I watched the whole thing and cried many times. Today is the anniversary of my Mom's passing so my emotions were high already.

I thought it was a beautiful tribute, not at all the circus I was afraid it would be.

I am 2 years older than Michael and remember his entire career. I never believed the allegations against him; I don't think a sexual thought ever crossed his mind.

I am so amazed every time they show him at 10 years old out in front of his brothers, performing like an old pro. Think of the 10 year old children you know, could you imagine them ever doing what he did?

I have an eerie feeling about the title of his last tour. I have a feeling he did not expect to live long after it was over, that he was doing it to secure his children's future.

DD watched with me and she is only 7. She said , mom it was nice that people care about others like this. He must have made people smile with his music.
She has asked to hear as much of his music as I can get her.

Should add that she loves music of all kinds and when she walked by the tv as I was watching, she sat down with me to watch.
