Anyone watching Michael Jackson's memorial?

There are so many kind and generous things that Michael has done throughout his entire career in order to help others and truly make the world a better place.. Yet many people have chosen to spend years focusing on only the "bad" press about Michael - mainly the child molestation charges - (things that have never proven to be true) - and things that most people have only read/heard about via the rag mags or on television.. I wonder how many of those people have ever taken the time to read the numerous books that have been written about Michael - from his childhood right on up - that might shed a different light on his odd behavior - and point out the inconsistencies in these child molestation allegations? Was his behavior bizarre at times? Definitely.. Was he a very troubled soul? Definitely.. Was he the monster he was made out to be? Questionable..

Whatever the case may be, he was a great entertainer, he was a great humanitarian, he was a great son, he was a great brother, he was a great father, and like it or not, his music and his legacy will live on forever..

amen :thumbsup2

Does anyone know if he was really in the casket? There seem to be conflicting reports.

Does anyone think there is ANY chance he is the father of any of those kids? Look at the boys' eyes, they are so dark, they remind me of Michael. I wish it could be true that he is the biological father, I just feel like it would 'protect' their interests more.

Sorry, just rambling here, I felt such empathy for those kids today. :guilty:

call me crazy if you like, but i think prince michael (the oldest) resembles michael, and paris looks more like her mom. i don't think it matters, really. he was their daddy, and they loved him.

This was an extremely moving thing to watch--whether about Michael Jackson or not..it was a piece of history forever imbedded in my mind.

On the "chewing gum" issue. Seriously????? Do you think Michael would have cared? If the kids wanted a hot fudge sundae he would have been ok with it--after all it was about the kids and always has been for him. May he rest in peace without the constant need from people to talk crap. I swear it is never ending. There are FAR worse things then Mariah Carey's dress and if the kids are chewing gum.

Off My soap box now.

It looks like the littlest one in the photo above is holding a Michael Jackson barbie type doll. :(

That's what I think, both both seem to resemble him around the eyes.

It was a very moving, very appropriate memorial, sendoff, for one of the greatest of entertainers.

He may not have fathered her, but it looks like his daughter got Michael Jackon's charisma. She really stood out ! I couldn't even tell who his son was, hadn't seen him since the British documentary and he had white-blond hair then.

Yeah, I first noticed it when they showed one of the first shots of the kids in their seats. Whatever helps to offer a bit of comfort I guess.

I look at Blanket and there is something about his face and especially his eyes that look just like Michael. After hearing Paris speak today, I see Michael Jackson in a whole new light. Regardless of who the "real" father is, Michael was Daddy and that means a whole lot more than whose DNA you have.

He WAS their "real" father. Biology doesn't make a father, love does.

I don't know if this was posted yet, but they have a 10 photo spread of the kids at the memorial. I don't think anyone forced those kids on that stage and nobody made Paris speak. They had a lot of support around them and it looks like they do a pretty good job of taking care of one another.

I hope that what is best for these children is done. They need to stay together as a family. Their love for one another is so obvious in these photos.

I agree, I wasn't questioning that. But let's face it, the speculation has always been there and now that we are being allowed to really see their faces, I see a resemblance. All three are absolutely beautiful

I don't know, I don't think buying a compilation album 2-3 years ago equals the guy being on the forefront of last month's American pop culture. Today's kids only know Michael Jackson through the Thriller dance.

Sure there is MUCH greater awareness now but in his final days in the US I don't think there was. Sorry.

But really I don't want to debate. I responded originally because I don't think Jackson, at the end of his life felt the love from the greater population. I responded to the direct quotes and will leave it at that.

This thread is about his memorial service anyway.

I am not trying to debate, yet I do want to clarify my comments--since I think it is a good memorial to MJ that he still has young fans who are discovering his work as they grow. He contiues to impact many.
I don't think he was on the "forefront." No one who is not producing NOW is on the forefront (unless they die, sadly). But he is still well known and loved by many and was before his death ten days ago. I mentioned buying that album as an example because the pp mentioned working for Target (where we bought the album) and I brought up Thriller becasue it is DS's favourite. I have no idea what"typical" 10 and 12 year olds know about Micahel but I know DS has considered him his favourite musician for years now (and DS LOVES music) and knows much of his suff (mostly from the Bad album and previous). DS10s favourite MJ songs are Rockin Robin, Beat It, and Thriller. For videos he loves Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean Jean, and The Way You Make Me Feel. After the recet rebraodcast of everything--he adds Leave Me Alone to the list. DD12 loves ballads and her favourites are Human Nature and I'll Be There followed closely by ABC, Ben and Man in the Mirror.
Neither of my kids had heard anything about the allegations agaisnt Jackson, etc. until after his death when people (all adults--not the other kids at school who were all talking about the music) kept bringing that stuff back up.
Have the media always been there for him? Gracious no. But I do think a good deal of fans have been and while I feel he led a very sad life I do think he knew he had a good contigent of supporters too. As others posted, his 50 concert tour sold out lightening fast and he knew that. Of course, he was not being talked about and listened to three weeks ago as often as he is today--taht is normal when anyone passes away--even soemone who is at the height of their popularity.

Yes, they clearly love one another very much. I agree with everyone else that they are beautiful kids. I do hope htey stay in the most loving and stabel enviornment possible (which seems to me to be with their grandmothers and aunts and uncles) and grow up to feel the love, contentment and peace that their father never did.

Yep. We bought The Essential Michael Jackson at Target 2-3 years ago and DS bought the Thriller video for his iPOD earlier this year. DS knows the entire Thriller dance and many of Michael's other moves. Our family never stopped listening to his music (though we have enjoyed seeing and hearing a greater variety than we usaully do this week).

Yea I see what you are saying, def
