Anyone watch the Delta prices drop?

I can't believe the fares! :earseek: With all the talk of cutting their fares by 50% I just check for our 4/24 trip. It would be $301.00 from Newark to MCO (on Expedia) on Delta! Delta wants $316 on it's website. It's almost cheaper for us to fly to California for our August trip - that's only $313 on Continental.

I just bought may family's tickets from Delta today! Louisville to Orlando for $196.40 per person. We have been watching the prices fall every day. We thought about it and just decided that can only go up, or if they go down, maybe I will get a discount!

So interesting to see all the different responses. Guess it just depends when you are flying and from where.

Of course our flight is a one way which skews things, but Delta wanted over $500 per person one way from PHX to MCO and that was with 2 stops.
Continental had a one stop flight for $114 if we really wanted the assigned seats... but we booked a non-stop on Southwest for under $100 per person.

It definitely pays to shop around.

Yeah to Delta! I was actually thinking of canceling my trip (egads, the thought) when I saw that prices were rising flying from Seattle to Orlando ($230 R/T when I last checked- a good price, but hey, i'm cheap). then Travelocity pointed me to Tampa where it's $130 R/T from Seattle!!! I have never seen an airfare so low!

So yes, I am driving from Tampa to Orlando. Perhaps that is crazy, but now I am renting a car and flying for the same price had I just flown to Orlando. Not to mention now I have the added benefit of easily visiting my dad in Merritt Island (who refuses to join me at Disney- silly guy)

Besides, $130 R/T from Seattle!! :earseek: Plus miles!? How absolutely great is that?!

I just hope Delta is a decent company to fly with!

:flower:
(oddly enough, Delta's website wasn't responding, so I had to bite the bullet and buy from Expedia...but even with their additional fee, they were only $1 more than delta itself!)

You're absolutely right. The only thing I can advise is to keep looking EVERY SINGLE DAY. The prices have been slowing creeping downward on Song, so I imagine the same will hold true for Delta. Are you by any chance planning on renting a car anyway? The prices are slightly cheaper flying into Tampa (TPA) and the drive over is not too bad. Especially if you went out Friday night after school, and did an airport hotel your first night.

I feel your pain, my mom was a school teacher, and they had to play this game EVERY year flying out of Boston.

Good Luck!
Actually, flying to Tampa would be okay as we are planning to spend the first 2 days of our trip with relatives in Spring Hill, about 45 min north of Tampa. Unfortunately, the price is still too high. It would be, by far, cheaper for us to drive for that price. Not that I want to...

My ticket went up $50 overnight. Guess we aren't in an area that will get the 50% fare reductions!

We finally found a price of $168 on Air Tran out of Newark. We had to leave the day before we wanted to go because we're not arriving until 8:00 pm AND we had to fly to Tampa instead of Orlando. BUT it's much better than the $300 fare's I was finding.

Same here! What's up with that? I think they inflated the prices just so they can bring them back down and look like they are reducing them. I'm hanging tight since we don't go until July. If something doesn't change, we won't be flying Delta.

The Delta flight I was watching for Spring Break was 179 yesterday and is now 288. I booked on NWA for 165 instead!

Of course we booked our airfare for our Jan 27 trip months ago. We paid $207.90. I checked the Delta site, and the same flight is $119.30 Figures. I did call them and had to pay the $50 change fee, but I got $38.60 per ticket credit for future travel. Better than nothing!

I also purchased our Delta airfare for June months ago and now I'm trying to purchase the same flight for some family members and the price went from $231 to $311. This is flying out of Lexington, Ky. We are the same distance from Knoxville, Tn and the price is a little bit less flying out of there but not much. I was thinking big price cuts across the board but I guess that doesn't apply to smaller cities/airports. What's going on?
