I usually watch double agents at 4pm. on weekdays, and sometimes I feel like the buyers are kindof weird. For instance, a lot of times people will say they didn't like a house due to the interior colors (paint on the walls) or 'decore'. I've never bought a house before, though my boyfriend bought the house we live in a little less than a year ago, and I come from a family of do-it-yourselfers, so I always think 'why are these people concerned with the color of the walls, when they can just paint it when they get in??' Also they seem influenced by the home owners furnature and decorations, which are obvioulsy not coming with the house (in most cases). Does anyone else ever watch the show, and think this is strange (or even that it's normal)? Or any other things you think are weird about the show? Another thing I think is kindof weird, is that the real estate agents seem to be always pushing for the house. When my boyfriend bought the house we live in, he looked at pleanty of homes with an agent, and he said that whenever the agent felt the house wasn't worth what it was listed as, her or her husband (whoever was showing it) would let him know, this isn't worth it, i don't think it's what you're looking for, etc. I've only ever seen one agent on double agents say 'I'm concerned about this, It will take down the resale value of the house'.. Anyone else who watches wanna comment?

tricia.

I watch it because I'm studying real estate as we speak.

I agree, discussing PAINT instead of the real bones of a house shows such limited insight, but I know people like that so I guess I'd better get ready for it.

I don't concern myself about the comments from the agents because I know most of it is edited for the short time they have.

I watch it all the since we started house hunting. I agree, I've seen so many people talk about color , and one woman said she didn't like the curtains.

Our realtor is a friend of DH's so he knows not to try and push anything on us. LOL

I can tell you where the curtain thing comes from. That show is filmed mostly in the DC area and up there, for some reason, it is customary to leave the curtains with the house. If you don't plan on leaving them, you must state it in your listing! Very weird! Why would someone want the curtains I made to go with my couch? My Realtor was very concerned that we weren't leaving curtains as is customary, but I told her our house was in a fabulous neighborhood and if a buyer can't be bothered to go to Target to get some curtains of their own, then they're probably not ready for the upkeep required in our neighborhood anyway (HOA with high expectations!). (And besided that, some people just go pick up the ugliest, cheapest thing they can find just to hang some curtains. Seems like a waste of money to me...especially with some of the "yard sale treasure" we saw when we were looking for houses....wouldn't have wasted the time or 50 cents it took to put those things up....and was insulted that people thought that would pass for "window treatments convey with house")

I agree with you that it's a waste of time to talk about paint colors, etc., as like you, I do lots of work on the house...paint, add moulding, put in shelving, decks, landscaping, etc.....so a simple coat of paint is the least of my worries. BUT, you might be surprised the number of people who don't want to have to do a single thing to their house!! I hate to tell them, but owning a house is constant upkeep and they'd better learn to do it (or can afford to pay someone else to do it), or else maybe they'd be better off renting!! Oh well....guess they'll live and learn :)
